Have you removed the flow restrictor? That's the first step with any new shower head. I've even removed them at hotels and people's houses I'm visiting. If it's an older one, try to replace the screen too if you can find a replacement.
You can buy different flow restriction things... like maybe not show- but faucet is better with one than full out.
