So I am looking at all the games that are coming out or just came out and I had a (probably pretty obvious) realization.

It is absolutely criminal that FromSoft does not have a rolling number of Souls-likes announced as in development at any given time.

Bloodborne Series - Old Hunters released 2015... ELEVEN years ago
Dark Souls Series - The Ringed City released 2017.... NINE years ago
Sekiro Series - Shadows Die Twice (no DLC ever) released 2019..... SEVEN years ago
Elden Ring Series - Shadow of the Erdtree released 2024.... TWO years ago

So between two years and a decade since we have heard a peep about any of their strongest fucking titles and their only announced game right now is......... Duskbloods for the Switch 2.

What the fuck are we even doing here? With those four series alone there should always be 2 of them announced and in production. I know they don't own the Bloodborne license, but replace that with Nightreign and Armored Core for even more titles and less announcements. I get that they take their time with things, but it seems crazy to keep those all locked up for so long with no information about the future.
Yeah they should absolutely turn their masterpiece cycle into annual COD slop.

Come on man

Did I say annual? They could announce one per year and still be on a 6 year game cycle. They have already said that their unannounced game is a new IP, so we would be on a 7 year cycle. That is not turning anything into COD slop. If they truly are not working on any of those 5, then we are in Bethesda mishandling of Elder Scrolls/Fallout territory that they get blasted about regularly.

Its true - with shit ping you basically had to get really good at predicting where the guy would be vs where he appeared to be
The first Gears of Wars was exactly like this on the Xbox 360 where only the person hosting had a good connection with zero latency, and everyone else had to suffer if the host's internet sucked.

I always felt like Halo was mediocre, peaking at the first game and dropping off when the wort-wort-worth squid aliens with the Predator mandibles started speaking as though they had a Master's from Julliards.

Microsoft was treating Gears like the red headed stepchild despite being the first fresh thing on their platforms with a good multiplayer foundation, and we had to pay money for the "privilege" of Halo 2 still getting dedicated servers even past Halo 3's release.

The way Sony has been acting, I'm of the position that I hope Fromsoft holds Bloodborne over their heads until the sun explodes or Sony sells it back knowing that they would just fuck it up like the Demon's Souls remake.

I wish From would pull a Demon's --> Dark Souls with Bloodborne, but Duskbloods' existence probably puts a nail in that unless it's an experiment to see how much interest is in that kind of setting still (huffs copium).
