Wasn't he trying to flee in the end and the littlest dinos are his ass. He got mauled by a pack of compies or the little dinosaurs with the paralyzing saliva didn't he? I just remember reading the book the Christmas before the movie came out as a gift that year.
Lex and Tim played a tyrannosaur roar over the loudspeakers which spooked him into a bad fall that broke his ankle and then the compies got him.

It wasn't irrelevant. He and Hammond had a tied narrative arc. His death was the story. The actual death line was a fleeting disappointment, but the plot point is important. Hammond had warned Hammond before the construction of the park about how dangerous it was, he warned it while he was there, everything he said would come to fruition did (in concept, bc he didnt give details). Then he even had a heart to heart discussion with Hammond where he told Hammond they were both not getting off the island and were going to die there, implying soon, and they did. Having Malcolm survive breaks a major arc in the story, and its very obviously how the original book ending is supposed to be. He can later retcon it if he wants (and was paid to do so), but its very clear that in the original JP, Malcolm died.
When your death is only revealed as a throwaway 'they wouldnt let us bury Hammond or Malcolm' during the final lines of the book, it was irrelevant.

Haven’t played it yet, but in watching streams seems like a mashup of counter strike, apex legends, overwatch, and paladins

As our resident Polygon enjoyer, I will not believe a word you say about it unless we have a more professional opinion. Say, a former professional Apex Legends STREAMER who was watched by *literally* tens of people a session?

Yeah definitely an unholy mix of games. Overwatch/Valorant stand out specifically. Some moba in there and some R6 siege.

Doesn't look like something I'd enjoy long term, but I'll fuck with it a bit. I think most tactical shooters are corner simulators for the most part and I don't particularly like to do that. This game does have fairly long TTK though so there's outplay windows, but from what I see as the rounds go deeper your gear gets better and your weapons do more damage so people just die faster.

Guys, clearly you need something fresh to play.

tbh, it looks like a decent game if you can get past the title...

I dont play these games, but I don't get the hate for it compared to Apex or Fortnite. I look at those and this and they look the same to me. Comparing it to Concord is crazy and downplays how retarded the design of that game was. The game awards trailer was terrible for sure though.

3v3s on a giant map (the #1 complaint in the negative reviews) is pretty fucking retarded design.

Major streamers will move off of Highguard within a week and then it'll officially be DOA. They're just soaking up the sweet, sweet advertising and sponsorship dollars until then.

I didn't even know this one came out. 3v3 on a giant map sounds terrible. The game I spent the most time in so far is Planetside 2. It can be amazing with a healthy pop on all 3 factions in mass fights, but if you go to play it at like, 8am, you end up with 2v4 on a giant map, and it's just not worth your time. And this is what it's like every game in Highguard?

It's got some problems with its core concept. 3v3 means immense pressure on each individual to carry their weight which means sweaty meta +10000%. The maps are huge and it definitely feels like this was supposed to be a 4v4v4v4 or something and they cut back. Maybe that's a mode they'll add in, but there's a lot of unused space. The character abilities range from very useful to worthless. Most damaging abilities with this long TTK are a waste of time you should've been shooting. This has the longest TTK I've ever seen in a game which makes sense for a hero shooter for outplay to be involved but the abilities aren't really good enough? So you just end up 2 magging every single person you fight until you get purple/gold versions of your weapons.

It's just way too competitive coded to be successful, even for a free game. Casuals with no communication will get absolutely fucking obliterated and you can see it in a lot of the negative reviews.

They'd need a mega mode with the ability to have fun and goof off and they don't. They're just alienating 90% of player bases. People who want to play at the highest competitive levels are already shitsocking in Valorant, League, R6, etc etc. This ain't those.
