Yeah Blood and Wine was the best content of the entire thing. Hopefully it’s more of that and not some DEI filled cash grab bullshit.

Yea it really was good. It's just that I played it coming off 100% the first 2 so it was either I was burnt out or another game had come along before I could finish it.

I can't imagine a worse combat system than the witcher 3. Maybe superman 64

Was definitely a weak point. Like it was an inbred soulslike. One of the few non shooters that felt better with mouse and keyboard than controller because of the damn sign system.

Blood and Wine fixed some of that with the mutations that allowed you to do things like spin to win.

I could never finish the game because of it which is unfortunate because I heard it's so good. I get about 20H in and I get bored of the combat and clunky controls.

Its been a while but I *think* if you get the blood and wine dlc you can travel there and unlock the new systems fairly early (like level 20). The combat isn't good and im not gonna try to sell you on it but its better, and then maybe you can experience the excellent parts of the game. And make no mistake, they are fucking excellent.

Is this a new Steam Deck? I’m not up on handhelds but a couple months ago was thinking about picking one up.

Oh hell that’s a price jump…. Haha, no.
No that’s the regular ol steam deck jacked up in price. Nearly the same amount in USD.

I used to have a Legion Go, which is more powerful than a Steamdeck or a switch, but I ended up selling it to build a gaming pc instead.

the legion go was fun for games like Doom 2016, but anything current Gen it struggled with performance wise (even at low settings 1080p). I’d always have to play it plugged in bc the battery life was so bad and carrying it on planes / public was a huge hassle bc it’s such a big device.

I’d just get an old school Gameboy color or Nintendo switch instead.

Yeah they just jacked the price up 50%. I think gaming as a hobby may be dead very soon. Or at least owning the hardware to do it.

I listened to some of this while mowing today and it’s pretty fucking dire. A lot of gaming supplier companies are probably going to disappear over the next year or two.

My views on scores is they’re a weak barometer. If a game scores greater than 7.5, you need to dig deeper. At best that means it’s got good controls and relatively “well built” from an “engine” perspective. Non-woke good games always score high. Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate (I thought this was fairly woke in barely 1.5 act play so far), RE, Pragmata, etc. Then you need to go to your trusted reviewers on an individual level.

It’s like mathematical models, all models are wrong. But some are useful.
