So anyone see the game mashups AI is producing? My kid called me into his room and he was playing Skyrim with full Minecraft shit. It was crazy. Absolutely no bugs either everything works perfect. You have the full Skyrim world and a minecraft avatar. You can craft all the blocky shit you want. TnT the shit out of whole castles and shit. Spawn in anything Minecraft. He told me that AI is basically re-compiling these games together into one. And this is only the beginning.

Actually what makes me worried is people have such hate boners for the AI stuff that if it got enough traction, some 70-80 year old politicians will pass some shitty law against this that effectively makes any game mods illegal

I mean look at what is happening in the EU right now - there is that brain dead law being considered that beyond forcing all gamers to do ID/facial scans to play online would also effectively make privately run servers against the law

Some of that EU kids act is a direct response to the stop killing games stuff that failed miserable.

So, what is that? It isn’t just a Skyrim mod it is some recompiled hybrid of both games? I’m way behind the times here.

I'm not super familiar with it myself (obviously, everything's super-illegal / open to being sued, which makes open discussion non-existent), but in some cases they use AI to decompile the original game and recompile it with additions to the code, in some cases they decompile both games and create a pseudo-hybrid where chunks of both game are running simultaneously - I believe for things like this:

Batman is the primary game running but passes the world geometry to a chunk of the Spider-Man code so that chunk can generate the correct animations which then get combined back with the rest of the Batman game world state.

It certainly has some wild consequences for game preservation / availability - a recompiled Wolverine already 'runs' on PCs, albeit at single digit frame rates, but it still runs.
