I don't think we're quite at the point where they drop physical media entirely for a game like GTA VI, but my money is definitely on it being the equivalent of a Nintendo Game Card. This game is going to easily top 200GB and publishers *hate* mastering even one dual-layer Blu-ray let alone two or three. They'll just ship the installer on the disc and make you download it, which makes the physical copy moot anyway. It's just a digital copy with the added inconvenience of having to keep the disc in the drive at all times.
Yeah unless they have any sort of physical CE’s you’re right.

Even then. The new trend with CEs is to not include the game at all. That way they don't have to make them platform-specific, and also it stops the bitching from people who don't get to play on day 1 because CEs that ship direct pretty much never arrive on time.

Oh, I was referring to the need to preorder from a retailer (GameStop, Best Buy) to get your physical items.

I'm just waiting for PC. All I play and usually by then any issues that might prevent a purchase is glaringly obvious. I am with some others though, GTA hasn't let me down yet, so I cant see myself passing up on this unless some serious issues. Even at 80 bucks, while I wish it wasn't, I will easily get my worth out of it if its anything like past GTA games.

GTA V is the actual reason I stopped doing pre-orders. I went to my local gamestop and put down money for the pre-order. Then it was delayed over and over, then the economy crashed and I had to move to another state and go get my pre-order money back. It was also some safety deposit box that did nothing but collect dust.

That said, this doesn't exist to me until it comes out on PC.

I play on console in the living room, pc is technically the superior platform but it’s not superior to hanging out on the couch with your dogs, having your wife who is on her computer in the room, and with the air conditioner on. Between doom scrolling on pc, gem cutting, and playing games on pc if I didn’t play on console my wife and dogs would barely see me.

Ok. Everyone should pre-order.

But seriously, if you’re going for a physical copy, you almost have to pre-order nowadays. However, it’s just going to be a physical download key and physical DRM. Perhaps that is superior.

I’m weird. Strategy, ARPG, MMO, CRPG, and First Person - I have to play on a pc. And I usually prefer to play on no bigger than a 36” TV. Everything else - I prefer on my couch on a 65” TV. I could move my PC but I own a PS5 and a switch. And I buy most of my games during deep sales or used physical copies. Major backlog. So it works for me.

And for games like Spiderman 2 where the gameplay is awesome (to me) but I don’t want to support the message - buying a used physical copy at 30% new price or so on eBay or FB marketplace prevents me from adding an additional sale to something.

Man, that's a whole can of worms. You two have a therapist or something?

These may be fake prices apparently. However they are probably on point lol.

I am going to pre-order the digital collectors edition. Then, when the pc version comes, I am going to pre-order that as well.

no, I’m not, I’m also not getting the collectors edition as if my wife caught me spending that much on video she would beat me senseless and would be right in doing so. Now if it came with a cool statue you could put on display like the Arkham one did…

I guess I’ll buy it when it’s on PC, has been patched several times for fixes, and is on a Steam sale. Not like it’s going anywhere or the story will be spoiled.

preloads begin Nov 12th, game releases Nov 19th (no early access). Physical copies will just be code in the box (no disc) and avail Nov 12th so you can preload a week early along with digital buyers.
