All the lols aside I don't know how these main characters are going to work. In these games the MC has to be, by strict definition, an unabashed career criminal. In every game you are playing Scarface on his way to the top, more or less. The game itself will be great and the missions will be interesting enough.

But Jason and Lucia seem to be going for the sympathetic angle. Despite participating in every form of crime. I don't think regular people will take well to the idea that you go to the crackhouse to pick up crack to sell for money and somehow the police are the villains. The older games made no pretenses about this, you're a criminal and you commit crimes. You aren't some good guy doing anything good.

You could do a great story with good and corrupt cops and criminals that go from small time petty stuff to being pushed into harder stuff or finding ambition. But that requires nuance. And the left and parts of the right suck at nuance. In particular though, American game writers don’t get nuance at all.

Spoiler, this game is gonna be how antifa thinks they look. Male will be beta, female will be boss bitch, and there will be all sorts of modern inserts and it'll come across as white women writing ghetto gangsters.

Jason and Lucia go to the crackhouse and get drugs. One of the dealer's associates betrays them to the "corrupt" DEA. The DEA comes in and the dealers start blasting. DEA and police kill most of them but as you make your escape one of the dealers runs out of ammo. The cops come up on him and he does his hands up don't shoot and even says he's out of ammo... because he used all of it. Then gets executed by the police.

Expect a lot of that.

I was reluctant to fully draw a conclusion from just that. Wasn’t the corrupt DEA guy also Hispanic? But yeah, I could see the whole game being white cops bad and black criminals good.

I’m trying to be less reactionary and draw my own conclusions after a total feedback but I’m sure not spending any of my money until I see more.

Is that in this in the game?. From my experience usually these games are pretty damn open for things like that. I think the only thing i've never seen in these open end RPGs is things like rape, or things to do with children(thankfully). Granted maybe they were and I just never bothered to go that direction. They dont seem to care who you kill, beat up, run over etc. Granted dialogue options are set by writers, but I only play PC and you can mod a lot in PC games to change things.

its been a while since I played a GTA though, figure what 2015 for 5 on PC. I never bother with online.

They said if you are super naughty on the ingame socials they will ban you from them, but not like the game or online or anything. It shouldn't require much of an explanation into why, its bad PR if people are praising Hitler or blaming jews all over the place in game and Take Two isnt going to want the headache or loss in sales. People forget the only reason Twitter is essentially unmoderated is because Musk doesnt REALLY care if it makes money he just wanted to be in control of the flow of information, any profit driven company isn't going to drive away consumers.

That said I am sure its all AI moderating it, and I look forward to people trying to get around it by being Palestinian supporters or something and getting all the engagement bait articles created.

Hmm you mean like in game chat? Its a solo player game? I guess I dont get the in game socials, will they have in game versions of facebook and twitter that is somehow linked to other players? Or its all self contained in the game with just you and basically npcs being everyone else. I guess going for even more realistic? I dunno I dont do social media in real life either. So I dont see myself bothering here. Though maybe PC can just be modded like usually.

Will see. I would have to see some pretty horrible reviews from console(that are not hardware related) to not buy it. I havent had a bad GTA yet, always been worth the money. And even then PC mods can change some bad things if needed, sometimes. Since I dont bother with online, just play the story and treat it like a big open adventure game while working through said story.

They have an ingame version of TikTok and Twitter AFAIK. The feature will be particularly online to become an actual influencer that other players can follow on their socials. So if can create meme, cool, funny moments you can post them and other people can follow etc. The option to actually live steam in game is also there. Based on how GTARP works this is likely their wheelhouse, all those players thrived on doing that and driving people to their twitch instead this way people without Twitch or whatever can follow those types of people right in game.

Hmm so really going for that realistic approach. Well unless I need to sit on the shitter in game or wait in a doctors office, I cant see myself ever scrolling through their version of tiktok. And I do zero twitter stuff.

I only bother with twitch for drops or watch a game I cant play(to see how it is). To each their own, none of that sounds interesting at all to me. I just want to play the game, get my usual 100-200 hours out of it and be done(more if it gets expansions).

I actually dunno if you can access it outside of the game. Think of it more as in the game world they have social media like we do and everyone can use it for good or bad. Its clearly aimed at people in their 20's who kinda live that world now, but now they actually have a small chance to be someone with a following even if its just in GTA6.
