Think i’ve been out of GW2 for 2? 3? years now? Whenever End of Dragons released. Great game with by far the worst “competitive” balancing I’ve ever seen by any serious AAA game. Of course this wouldn’t have been a problem if ANet didn’t cave to the “we want hard content/raids” minority but it is what it is.

GW2 is getting a lot of streamers and players lately. More than the usual expansion surge. Some from New World obviously, but there is more to it than that.

Bunch of videos like the ones below on youtube the last couple of weeks. Kind of weird, since although GW2 has always been popular, it rarely gets any notice (like here).



I jumped in a few weeks ago. Haven't played since End of Dragons. 3 new expansions since then. Working through the Secrets of the Obscure expansion on one of my toons - it's focused on the Skyscale mount. 2 more expansion to get to.

This is the game I am playing now. I am waiting for the Black Friday deals on the older expansions I missed. It has always been a pretty solid game.

I love this game, but every single time I get in and play it, I run into the same problem, over and over again. I just can't get along with the "community" at all, way to woke for me to handle.

What? I've played this game off and on since the start and never once have I interacted with community past calling them retards.

I think GW2 is the best single-player MMO. I just do my own thing and pretty much ignore everyone around me.

I enjoy the gameplay and exploration, but the dialogue was very juvenile on the main story imo. Plus as mentioned the community is woke fucking trash. I sorta tagged with a couple people loosely associated with my wow guild and it was just fucking commies and sad sacks everywhere in the guilds. I think I ended up 5/5 for being g-kicked along with my other wow buddy that played. We stopped after heart of thorns. So it’s been a minute.

Yeah the community has been filtered through a gauntlet of mediocre woke quests. Hard to keep playing unless you want to inject wokeism into your veins.

I don't pay attention to the players in the open world, no need to. Everyone works together and gets the events done. And in WvW I don't see the woke stuff, just an endless argument about whatever is the day's political idiocy. And that has always been there, like every other mmo.

As for the story, all mmos have shit stories, except maybe FFXIV. And to be honest, it isn't that FFXIV's story is so great, but compared to the rest of the mmo story garbage, it seems good.

I don't play GW2 or any other game for the story. Imho, GW2 has the best combat outside of Black Desert. GW2 is the only game that has an active RvR (WvW) that isn't totally fucked by management. And the gear treadmill that other mmos force you to do is such an old, tired and greedy mechanic it makes my eyes bleed. GW2 is skill based, not gear based pvp. And that alone makes it better than all the rest.

GW2 respects the player, and isn't P2W. The woke shit is there, just like every other fucking game out now. If people can't ignore that then they probably shouldn't be playing games at all.

GW1 Reforged coming out in December. Basically a HD remaster with some tweaks to make it work controllers and Steam Deck.

All fair. I actually didn’t see much woke in the original expansion story. And I think you can just space bar it.

My problem was trying to join a guild. Yuck.
