I was going to say I'm surprised he needed a paycheck that bad, or maybe this is the last film he had to do with Netflix for whatever that contract required.
Netflix makes Sandler the highest paid actor in Hollywood. His movies don't cost a ton and he brings in the views. They also let him do whatever he wants.

The areas they filmed it in aren't very high class. It's guido stuff. Same places you saw filmed in the Sopranos.
The trailer makes it feel that Sandler knew this was going to be a nostalgia film and just went all in.
Exactly, which is perfectly OK. If you can cash in on nostalgia, do it and don't pretend it's anything other than that. I admit, I'll probably watch it.
