Tried searching and didn't see a thread anywhere for this, apparently it's been out since 2022 on Steam at least.
Currently 70% off and in my opinion very worth picking up.

I'm up to rank 10 (out of 30) and it just keeps getting better. The story is a bit linear from what I can tell so far in that you don't get a choice in whether you support the other characters or not, but overall the main gameplay loop is very satisfying.

Its a really addictive game. At first it can be a little daunting because you struggle to maneuver and guide different materials into different bays, but once you get the hang of it you go nuts.

As you progress they add more risky things to take apart. The ghost ships are trippy as fuck.

Pretty sure it's this one, I remember a reviewer talking about long cut scenes lecturing you about the evils of capitalism and if if we could just all unionize it would be utopia.

This is the one where you RP a communist?
Sort of - more accurately, you passively listen to one of the characters in the shipbreaking crew bitch and complain about corporate and talk about unionizing while your character has (at least so far) no ability to provide input. The rest of the crew seems to be relatively complacent with regards to the job and realities of being a space serf, and there's also some messages from corporate and middle-management every now and then to remind you that you're essentially company property.

But again, the core gameplay in my opinion far outweighs any of the minor complaints I have about the lack of engagement with the story. Were it to provide the option, I would tell the upstart nag to shut her mouth and get back to work.

if the gameplay loop is good
Once you acclimate to the terrible physics it's fairly satisfying. Just turn the volume down and tab out during the unskippable 'capitalism BAAAAAD' story sections that should have been broadcast over the radio during gameplay instead of forcing you to sit there waiting for it to be over so you can get back out and break more ships.

Fun puzzle game, just walk away and take a piss/stretch when the bitching starts if it annoys you. I didn't mind the union shit, it was cringe, but the entirety of the talking shit takes less time than a real life union/safety meeting, so I'm already conditioned to tune the bitch out.

When ya pull Atlas engines, be careful and line them up to the furnace via backwall/pylons, those things will catch in between the 2 burner types and glue to the wall, sucks to have to reload at that point.

Don't spoil yourself on how to do ships unless you really stuck, the game isn't that long otherwise.

This was originally going to be in Homeworld universe I think, not sure what happened with that. Same folks that made HW3, don't let that scare you away, its a decent enough shipbreaking pseudo-sim in space if ya ignore the story.

I'm making the assumption they going to make a sequel if they went through the trouble of this recently:

I do really like that game, and I'd happily play another similar one. I'm glad the original makers got the IP rights back.

Someone gave it to me as a gift years ago. I got about 1/3 of the way through. It was a bit of a mixed bag. I enjoyed the puzzle solving nature of the game, but the oxygen mechanics made the game quite stressful. I ended up restarting it with the oxygen off and it turned into a very nice, relaxing zen type game. I didn't mind the commie thing, it was so over the top I figured it was mostly satire. I mean, you start off each day owing the company something like a few billion credits or something, and then all sorts of shit like oxygen, food, water and god knows what else is then deducted from your day's pay before the rest goes into the black hole of paying off your debt. To me, it seemed as if they were just making fun of both sides. I didn't take it too seriously.

Need to give it another go though. I also remember some dev blog from a year or more ago where they hinted at a sequel or something.

If you focus on upgrading your O2 first, you can easily upgrade it to the point you don't need to worry about it for the entire length of a Shift, then it's more running out of the other expendables like Tethers.
