Hisense U6 Series 55U6N 55 Inches ULED 4K

If anyone wants to impress the hell out of their kid(s) for Christmas, this TV is bonkers for the price ($350.) Was watching movies and playing games with my nieces and nephews over Thanksgiving and my cousin had one of these in the game room (which is also a full bar even though he lets his kids play down there. very sus.) I couldn't believe it wasn't a $1200 TV, looked really fucking nice and I am super picky about other peoples' TV choices.
Ya I thought about that but went with the Samsung S90D instead for 1,250$. Every review from pretty much everywhere has it as the best TV for the price and I haven't bought a TV in my entire life so figured F it.

This is the comparison between the two so while that one is good, the S90D kinda blows it out of the water for not too much extra in price.

I wouldn't buy the Hisense for a main TV, read my actual post. But if you want something that looks super impressive for your kid(s)' gaming room, it's pretty sweet.

Ah true. Welp if anyone looking for a main TV, the S90D is definitely it.

Snagged a 65" LG C4 as the price was just too good to pass up. I was on the fence and initially planned to grab a Samsung S90D but too many reports of "panel lottery" TV's for my comfort. You either get one that works great or one that is a nightmare. 50/50. Honestly no regrets on the C4 it looks fantastic and I like the remote better anyway. Now to get a decent sound system to pair it with.
If you're in North America the 55", 65", and 77" 90Ds are QD-OLED, the rest are WOLED per rtings:

Samsung S90D/S90DD OLED (QD-OLED) Review (QN42S90DAEXZA, QN48S90DAEXZA, QN55S90DAFXZA, QN65S90DAFXZA, QN77S90DAFXZA, QN83S90DAEXZA)

C4 is a great TV tho. I'm about to test this for real with a 77" 90D coming on the 10th.

You gonna keep it?

Well they insist on using the box it came in, but it was a giant box on top of the TV box, which I destroyed. They did offer me a potential discount so I may take that and give this to my sister.

Anyone have ambient lighting on an oled? Good, bad, amazeballs? I think it looks pretty sweet but the options to actually install it look terrible. Its either phillips which is like $600 total with the sync box, a govee with the camera sticking out, or the DIY projects..

No, I've tried this in the past and basically there are a number of problems. Your TV has to have the right distance and surface behind (e.g. really dark wood paneling will look weird), and at least the cheap versions of this are slow and laggy to change colors when you're dealing with modern frenetic camera changing. Also, so much shit is dark, and it's not clear what the benefit is when you're watching a scene you can barely make out on the TV and there's a halo of light around it.

I'm sure if you have a purpose built home theater setup with perfect lighting, viewing angle and top of the line stuff it will work fine. Just seems kinda gimmicky to me.

i have a govee on a basic 75in something, the overhang camera is annoying, but if you plan to watch in the dark, b/c thas why you installed the ambient lighting anyway then you don't see it. it's a gimmick that works. i don't see a reason to just have bright white light behind the tv, but the color matching leds makes it seem like the scene is "bleeding" out.

my wife likes it for just basic dramas

Yeah I might try the govee to see how it looks just because it seems like the simplest option. I have the tv mounted on a white wall so the colors should come out pretty well. Alot of the reviews say for the govee it can't interpret whites and it will just throw out random colors sometimes.

no idea, on color accuracy, thats not my thing, also my govee is 1st gen, heck i have it stretched out on a 75in screen, the max is 65 for the first gen, heh.

One thing to check out, used to be the phillips hue required a sync box on any tv not made by phillips but they now have app support on both Samsung and LG. So if you have a samsung qd-oled or a LG oled you don't need the hassle of the external box anymore.

My LG CX is shitting itself after 4 years. I think it's overheating based on what is happening vs what I am reading online. Have tried everything except cracking open the back which idk what that is going to do anyways. Now I need to decide if I want to stick with LG or check something else out.

Got a 48” b series lg OLED for work for 550 lol

But just stick with LG OLED imo as any option. OLED is just getting better and better and is just the best vs anything current etc.

Is the gallery still display and brain separated? Maybe those will last longer?

So along with my new gaming rig I started looking at replacing my LG 2k IPS monitor.

This thing looks pretty sweet. Any thoughts on this particular model? Reviews seem off the charts. I also have a wireless keyboard touchpad and HDMI coming off my HDMI 2.1 receiver with full support on my LG 65" OLED in the theater room that I am going to check out along with how cool Big Picture mode is already in testing - (Paired an Xbox Wireless Controller via bluetooth and it's working flawlessly)

This way I can have the best of both worlds at 4k :)

Rig is 7800X3D with 5080 GTX.

Edit: Only thing I see is that it doesn't have GSync support but supports adaptive sync which will work with the 5080 GTX - not sure if that matters or if GSync works better.

Other option is to leave this like it is and just bring the PC out for gaming weekends in the home theater (HDMI 2.1 cable is already ready to go and on stand by)

So are smart TVs basically the only option anymore? We've been using a Sony TV we got probably a dozen or more years ago. Works great, and we use a Roku on it. We've had a few different TVs in the bedrooms though, and they all come with some bullshit interface from Amazon or Google or whoever, that runs like shit, constantly has software updates making it slower, and worst of all comes with ads on it (why the fuck am I paying for a TV that comes with ads?).

We're probably getting to the point soon though where we'll need to replace it. It seems like the only option is a bullshit smart TV that comes with a bunch of crap loaded on it that I don't want. Is this just reality in 2025 and we've got not other choice?
