Been jamming out all afternoon and it sounds fantastic. If you like to emphasize a certain part of the audio range, lows, mids, or highs their IQ thing works really well. It puts out so much more power than my old Sony AVR.Nice I had an Onkyo unit back in the day, really liked it.
I have the open back Hifiman Sundara, Arya Organic, and Audeze LCD-CX. SUNDARA have the best cost performance. They are relatively inexpensive and sound great. The Arya Organic are my favorite of the 3 and are be daily drivers. They have a slightly warm sounds. The LCD-CX are have af. It's tough to keep them in your head for more than an hour. They also sound very technical and cold, not very fun to listen to.I decided to buy the Sony (Playstation) Pulse 3D Elite headphones today, to try out the Tempest engine in an upcoming game. They apparently have planar drivers, which I have not experienced. I also currently own the Sennheiser HD599's, so just very mid lvl stuff, but using a Schiit stack (magni/modi/heresy), and they have been great over the past few years. Yet, there is such a difference between the 599's and these Pulse, I am actually surprised. The 599's have a much "open" sound, probably due to being open-backed, while the Pulse have a much "smaller" sound, but I would say the Pulse have a better detailed sound and much richer low end. So now I think I'd to try out a higher quality planar headphone that can be driven by the Schiit stack.
Anyone have experience with planar headphones? I was looking at this random list of the "best" ones for 2025:
The 12 Best Planar Magnetic Headphones for 2025 — Audiophile ON
Out of that list, the HiFiMan Arya (either version) and the Sivga Pro are the two I'd be prone to get. Any suggestions?
