For a second I thought that image at the end was the same logo as the band HIM, and that was going to be the twist.

God dammit, I read the description before I clicked on the trailer, and the first question that popped into my mind based on the deal was is Jordan Peele involved in any way with this.

Lo and behold, my white wizard abilities are finally tuned.

I mean I guess it looks kind of interesting, but I'm not going to go pay stupid theater prices to see it.

I watched his last abomination, that goofy movie about the flying monster that was sucking up all the people, and it was utterly retarded, also magicians don't know how to ride horses very well and when they do, only typically ride them on the sides of a highway.

Maybe he will redeem himself, but I don't think I've cared for anything he's made or been involved with other than his goofy sketch comedy. He's like the magical M Night shalomadama ding dong.

its basically the Substance but in dudes sports world

sports is a fucked up world so its tough to really say its "woke" when 55%+ of the league is black and its full of rapists, murderers, juiced up roid ragers, and guys who aren't in jail because of lawyers and fixers

After looking at the cast, I saw Julia Fox's name (the hot broad from Uncut Gems) and was thinking "why'd they ugly her up for this?" That's just her now apparently. Thanks Globohomo.

Just what I always dreamed of, a movie about sportsball and satanism!
that really hits on perfectly what feels off here.

Music/dance school cult like behaviour seems like a perfect fit. even cooking.
Suspira. coven of witches/dancers. yeah, that checks out.
Starry eyes. neon demon, and every other "cult of satanists praying on starlets trying to make it in the den of sin". yeah checks out.
movies like, "the menu". not satanists, but still a cult. would make perfect sense.
movies like, "Whiplash". same deal.

but it doesn't check out with football.
While, yes there are SOME similarities. the fame, prestige, and perfectionism. but the cultlike behavior just isn't there. its going to be a real stretch to make it fit.
the stadiums as temples. maybe. the fans as cultists. there is SOME tissue to work with. hell, look how many times "fans" attacked athletes, or each other.
but I find it hard to overcome the clear focus on entertainment first. athletes not getting hurt. older movies were all about doctors drugging them up to hell and back to play through the pain. (which that could play into the cult/using people up/sacrifice idea...) but which seems directly contrary to the imagery here. it seems to be using the same imagry as a female suspria, and not the male imagery of Friday night lights.
I guess I'm talking myself into the idea of a football cult movie works. just it doesn't seem to mesh with what that trailer shows.

Praise to the great god Nuffle.

He neither wrote nor directed this.
