I was originally gonna write what sucked the fun out of the playtest was the performance issues, watch Drewski played and saw while it performed better; it still had issues prior.. realizing it was just a thing, and figure it was gonna go the way of HLL.

So the delay is welcomed.. Managed to get a few friends playing it and they all hated it at first because they didn't do the tutorial and all squads were locked/full.. came in did the tutorial and squad led for them, and it changed the dynamic for them so much. I'm not a great squad leader by any means, but placing tunnels and watching your number x2.. all while keeping your boys in the game was a pretty good time, ontop of who can say no to a nagant.

Utlimately, they also came to the same conclusions; watch people etchersketch their way through the backdrop and various performance drops made it tough. I had to listen to Commanders and SQ complain about supply drops not working and deploying bastions or w/e they're called not happening.. ontop of one game the Commander couldn't get out of the supply truck and his map wouldn't open.

Is this going to have awesome music like BF Vietnam?
If its anything like the other prox mic squad games; people will be blaring it undoubtly. I mostly play vc, so I didn't get to hear the patroitism.. just people yelling die roundeye.

That's all it usually takes is someone showing them how things work and providing spawns/sticking together and it becomes really fun.

Haha I was doing napkin math to try explain why my friend needed to hold the line instead of pushing into it because we were on the eastern? flank of the frontline and that I could only assist so much due to having to make sure we have a squad beacon a couple meters back, while maintaining a tunnel dugout for the team. We had this pseudo cliff face that we could see the train yard where the clash was happening.. basically told him to grab the RPD; its the best belt fed of its time, and to aim at those bushes and send out control bursts.. Mans was out here gigglinig at how many dinks he got w/o seeing anyone telling me yankees got no knees.

Walking into beacons and they break is kinda lame though. I wish you had to go up to it and actually dismantle/destroy/shoot? cus that was the only other thing I was doing as SL since I didn't have fire power was just crouch walking bush to bush listening for GI Radio.

You have to get really close to destroy them so it's not that big of a deal. Still have to dismantle garrisons and it takes awhile depending on where they are in the enemy territory. It's one of the reason I like the new sound engine where the sound is bouncing off everything. You have to really hunt down the outpost/garrison/tunnel rather than just bee-lining to it. It adds another tactical element to the game.

Free weekend is live.

If you can stand key bind issues and sound volumes being very wrong this game is a fucking Masterpiece. Running great and sounds insane.

Check all sound levels (Input and Output) and make sure they are below 100. They keep defaulting to 500 for some reason. Input is around 20 for me.

Make sure Stereo is set to 0
Turn on Surround in the sound options.
Turn on dynamic sound mode.

Then proceed to blow your load the first time a napalm strike runs through.

Boomer battlefield, almost entirely just people prone in one bush or another, and for being a vehicle junky made me hate doing that. High settings but even point blank foliage partial pop in/out going from unzoomed/zoomed at 15m. Only props is at least having a commander ala older battlefields that actually does stuff.

Definitely gotta go slow and stick with your squad. We were fucking people up. Muzzle flashes expose prone bush wookies.
