i think theres only two ways to "absorb" odor and thats w/ charcoal and/or baking soda

get a few of these and put one in each room, it's $1 (i put 1 at each door, that way i also know where i put it, instead of stashing it in a corner and forgetting for a year, if youre super cheap you can just buy the flow thru box once and just fill it up w/ new bulk baking soda, or use something porus like coffee filter material)

you can of course "mask" the odor thats where febreeze comes in, it's mostly just perfume, right?

then kill the odor (odor cause by bacteria), ozone

those sprays that attack bateria, especially since you have pets, get a black light and go to town

"natural" home remedy for a funky area is citrus/vinegar/baking soda, that should neutralize any problem area

and if you live like a vampire, open all your shades, sunlight is also a disinfectant
Big tree covered porches, etc, old farmhouse is pretty dark.
Think I'll try a couple of these OdoBan 14 oz. OdoMagnet Odor Removing Gel Crystals, Odor Absorber and Air Freshener with Odor Eliminator Gel, Night Ice 9746EB61-14Z - The Home Depot

mixed w/ the baking soda. Never seen the flow thru box, know what stores might carry it or online

Anyone have a recommendation for a garbage disposal?
Personally, I would just go down to the local big box and get a 1/3hp Badger or whatever the house brand is. Maybe 1/2hp, but 1/3 has always worked for us. Don’t spend a ton on a “quiet” model. It’s only on for 10 secs at a time once or twice a day, anyway.

Dont know which thread remotely would have people for it. Seems up Lanx Lanx ally. Got guests coming over in a few weeks and I'm always overly self conscious I guess you would say worrying about how the house smells with several big dogs and unlike CO, very wet so yeah, especially the "mud room" with the kennels has some smell. Also finishing a batch of chicks in a brooder and when they are getting decent sized that also has a little funk.

A few rooms I might ozone, otherwise good windows open airing out, might get carpet smelly powder you vacuum up. But anyone know of any good ways of spritzing up the house without it just being crazy amounts of febreeze that then just smells like you febreezed. Half debated just loading up on smelly dollar tree mopping soaps etc and go full mexican cleaning crew.
Sure.

Dishwasher soap and a bucket of hot water. Mop for floors and sponges for the walls. Floors also use Pine-Sol. For wood surfaces use Murphy wood soap. Also wash ceiling fans blades top to bottom and clean out air registers. For carpet, have a good company come in to clean.

Clean everything. Light fixtures, inside of cabinets.

My house in ID was a dust magnet and I had to clean every square inch of it twice a year to keep it smelling nice. Washing the walls is one thing a lot of people miss and removes a lot of stink.

Extra benefit is a clean house is a happy house. Coming home to spotless clean was an instant benefit to nerves and mood.

Oh yeah...windows also hold stink. Dish soap and bucket of hot water and a few squeegees and microfiber cloths. Forget the fuck out of Windex. Get Invisible Glass. Cuts right through any grime and easy as spray on wipe off. Excellent for autos, too.

this is my go to odor remover. the concentrate is 1 part to 5 parts (for odor) water so cheap as dirt. i don't really smell the eucalyptus, don't know if that is a just me or what. i have seen it comes in other scents but not tried them.

on the odd note

Fun fact: I've used baking soda all my life but never for baking.

It deodorizes like a mofo though!

i see all the window washers on youtube use dawn, and it "runs" better than spray i've used.

So… umm… my tree in my front yard is dead… its manageable to take down.

But replacement… i have two sprouts in my back yard i would like to transplant… is that a thing? Can i just kinda dig dig dig, cut and replant?

Sprouts that are like 7 years old lol…about 20-25 ft high and 6-8 in diameter i think they are some kinda oak?

My experience with trees is that they will grow on their own where you don't want them but if you plant them intentionally then they will die immediately.

We have 2 silver maples. One in our front yard and second in the back. They had to be here before they built because these fuckers are giant good 4ft trunks. Anyway, when we moved here we found a sprout from one of the helicopters. I planted it in a pot, then like a year later a bigger pot, then finally in my front yard where it was barren. Its now some 15 yrs later and the fucker is a monster. 20+Ft tall trunk has to be about 12"-15" trunk.

Dug a huge ass pit, like 4ft by 4 ft round when I planted it. It took like a year to take off but it did. Best time to do this is either in the fall or the early, early spring.

Baby, just pruned it today.

Now these are super fast growing maples. If yours is an oak it will grow way fucking slower.

Received 2 apple trees for Xmas one year. Lived in the Clay Belt of the south but the in-laws got them for us so I could not say fuck it. Got them from the size of a pencil to almost the diameter of my forearm and they caught some damn disease and died. FUCK TREES! Hey did I mention I had an acre & a half of rocks?

i just visted my friend, when he bought the house 3 years ago, his backyard would flood when rains, he had to build a fence and get french drains to redirect, it's still "squishy", but now he says all the backyard trees are dying and the arborist is saying it's a losing battle.

I’ll take pictures of them, no real idea what they are. They were “eh i wont pull them out” during trimming and stuff then they were “i cant just pull them out” now they are super tall and skinny.

I also have a Norfolk pine my neighbor gave me for some unknown reason, its now 10 plus feet… keep telling the kids i am ganna use it for a Christmas tree but now its too big.

I could move that one also to replace this dead whatever it is.

Ill take pics tomorrow

oh yea, today i was in my den and my window faces the new neighbors side, i heard this squish, squish sound, you know any weird sound you have to go sherlock around, it was coming from my window, so i was like wth, and i see my neighbor w/ an electric pressure washer, aiming it at his tree/bush, over his fence (hose and power cord wasn't long enough), and at the end of it, it looked like a foam cannon.

so the ny'er in me almost opened up my window and shouted "what are you up to" then i thought about it, and he might drag me into some weird place and just closed the shades.

so wtf was he doing? and yes i've had electric and gas pressure washers and multiple foam cannons, but what he was doing and that squish squish sound was really weird.

also he's british, so that might explain it too

You mean Asians don't wash their trees!? Filthy-tree-haver!
