And yet we have folks in the “what car do you drive” thread saying $300-$500 for an oil change is OK by them.
*shrug* dealer is $240/hour labor and oil is $180. It requires taking the bottom of the car off and putting it back. So, about $620 per oil change. Is what it is.

Insane is what it is. Two changes is more money than I've cumulatively spent for oil on my 2001 Camry.
Yeah, it’s kind of dumb, but it’s all relative and I’m not willing or able to change the oil in my cars. If it wasn’t cars, it would be alcohol, drugs, and gambling, which I think is probably more expensive.

I think I have only paid for an oil change once in my life for my own cars but the oil change in question, for $300, was on an BMW M3 (sports car), using at least 1 specialty tool, by a mechanic that comes to you (mobile), and filmed how detail/quality oriented he his.

Doesn't seem like toooo bad of a deal, if he is using fully synthetic on a car that may have an expanded oil capacity and you know the mechanic isn't going to fuck up your expensive car like some minimum wage grease monkey at an oil change shop. That is, if you are unable or unwilling to do it yourself.

the drivers side was a complete nightmare
I know that's a possibility. I had a similar adventure with a farm implement this spring. A pin that is supposed to move in a sleeve rusted solid and I spent a day and a half heating it, beating on it with various hammers, and pushing on it with a 50 ton press. Finally cut it off and took it to a welding shop and had them fabricate a new part. Rust is pretty amazing sometimes.

my neighbor has a gtr and asked me where i go to change my oil and i said myself, and i told him, he's more than welcome to borrow everything to change his oil (i mean he's literally next door and it'd be easier if he pulled into my garage, but i'm not gonna change having to clean up someone elses oil)

we googled a video and the most annoying part is that it has that huge shroud of plastic covering the bottom, i priced it out like for 40$ for a nissan oil filter/washer and mobile1 0w40 5q, the nissan dealer said it'd be 170$

he's from england so he has like no tools

I just bought the fuel filters, oil filter and oil for my Ram 2500. I'm in for $500 before I pick up a wrench. I've done the work myself before but getting the chassis mounted fuel filter off requires taking a diesel bath and I'm over that. I have a mobile guy come and do the service for me, I'll be all in for $800ish. That's a yearly service.

Funny. I'm preparing for Mum season, and my summer shit won't die! It hit 49 here, and I'm shocked they are still going strong!
