Wayfair has plenty of options you just need to filter for stuff that isn't Ikea quality. They have a wide variety of quality levels so just be careful. Your mileage may vary for what you're actually looking for. I've liked them for some of my less expensive office furniture. With a small business account I was getting free shipping and a few other perks that didn't show up for my wife when she was looking for stuff for her office.

Yea that's exactly what I've been running in to. Pieces that are 3500$ are made from manufactured wood with 'real wood' paneling and shit.
It's all just jumped up Ikea trash and there's no shot I'm paying those prices for any of it.

Best bet may be to look up local woodshops in your area and just start asking for quotes on what you want. If you are in a big city you could even start at the local good wood supply store and ask for referrals of their customers.
Like the following shop in Dallas used to give referrals. They also offer a professional glue up and milling, if someone wanted to get a top done from them, then put some legs on it and stain/finish it themselves.

When I bought my house 30 years ago I went to a high end furniture place. Well high end for the area I lived in. I won a $5,000 credit for buying a $100 raffle ticket to a St. Jude house give away. I bought two chairs. I went in there some time ago and it was like you said, low end stuff made with particle board and no telling what else of questionable source of origin.

I got a really nice solid wood dining room set for $900 on Facebook marketplace a few years ago. They were also selling a bedroom set for the same price but it didn't really fit in my room but I still kinda wish I had picked it up.

Master bath needed remodeling. Some parts I didn’t want to tackle (shower) so I called for a price on just replacing the one-piece fiberglass shower with a unit made of large panels like cultured marble or fancier stuff. The low bid was $7500 for ugly CM and the bid from Kohler for their prettier panels was $17,000. Just for the shower. I still needed a new matching tub deck, vanity top and a new floor. We talked it over and since we had another bathroom with a shower we decided to do it ourselves.
So, new tile floors, relocated old vanity cabinets, new countertop with new sinks and faucets, new toilet, new tub with new faucet, new lighting, new mirror, more electrical outlets and new tiled shower with new fixtures. We're in it for $7k so far. I still have some little things to finish like some wallboard texturing and paint, some trim and window treatments, but it’s mostly done. Came in at $7k. Might do a shower door but it’s going to be hard to convince me that it’s an improvement over a good looking bar and curtain and the vanity cabinets need some sort of refinishing and new knobs. Maybe another $1500 to $2000 depending. Took me 68 days to get to this point but I'm old and I have obligations that keep me from working everyday.

Looks good man, personally I never got the point of those freestanding tubs. We had one for 4 years and only ever used it to bathe the dogs lolOld shower. Notice old crooked tile.

Thanks. Truthfully, I don’t get it either. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of baths I took in that old corner tub but it was installed so poorly, it had to go and I got that $850 freestanding unit for $350. I will probably never use it but it looks sexy.

Since we’re starting our home build my entire social media feed is filled with plan recommendations, plan review questions, and anything build related. Everything else has been pushed off my algorithm at the moment, it kind of sucks.
Anyways, open floor plans are still the vast majority of what I’m seeing people post for review from architects and from plan sites, but there is a surprising growing minority I’ve seen the last 6 months going away from open. A lot of “modified” open plans as well where the kitchen will face a dining area and the living will be off that. So still open, but not one huge 50’ x 30’ kitchen + living area.

Seriously though, you've done good work. I especially like the thermostatically controlled shower - you can bet I'll be putting one of those in when I renovate again. Also, what's the tank beside the tub?
