Anyone here familiar with this type of device:

Amazon.com

Though this seems to be a lot more than what I really need, and only if I decide to get the KEF LSX II LT's since they only have digital inputs, if I go with the Klipsch or Kanto, I can just send audio out from my Schiit stack via RCA. Of course, I could get the KEF anyway and just switch outputs via Windows, lol.
I have the WiiM Pro Plus 2 (https://a.co/d/7Churbp), which gets fed via music from my plex library. I send the digital signal straight to my Schitt Modius. As it's only purpose is to send music to my external dac, it does that job well. The phone app is ok. It's very basic and can feel a bit convoluted. However, at that price point you can't expect much.

I remembered that my PC doesn't have an optical output, so the Wiim wouldn't work in this future setup. Not even the KEF would work, unless I wanted to give up using my Schiit stack + Headphones, so getting them could end up being more trouble than they are worth. I did find out that KEF also has a different speaker Coda W, that would work.. but I haven't heard enough sound demo's for them yet.
Are you planning to connect the computer to the WiiM or connect your WiiM to the computer? I use it as a network attached device via the rj45 jack. You can connect the rca cables from it to your Schitt stack. I might be able to help more if I could better understand your situation.

My goal at the outset was to find a pair of powered speakers that would replace my current Klipsch 2.1 Pro Media. There are very very many such speakers, but after reading some reviews and many sound demo's via youtube (good recordings), I narrowed that list down to Klipsch The Fives, KEF LSX II Lt (and now Kanto Tuk/YU6). From that list, I kinda liked the KEF, but it had one drawback... only digital inputs, so I couldn't use the RCA outs from my Schiit stack. So that led to me to start searching for some device that would take a USB-C connection from my PC and between to send the signal to either the Schiit stack and the KEF (my PC doesn't have an optical out sadly).

There is no such device as far as I'm aware. So the only current option would be to use a nice powered USB Hub, but I've decided to pass on the KEF and get either The Fives or one of the Kanto, but of course I might get distracted into considering a couple other systems by HiVi Swan or Vanatoo. The Wiim streamers would have worked if they had a USB input, but as good as the KEF sounded, they didn't sound much better than the others.

Ah. I see. Looks like the Kantos and KEFs have dacs built into the speakers. If you want to use your Schitt stack, you're right, the Kanto's will be the way to or really any powered speakers with analog inputs, so you can bypass their dac. My apologies if you already knew all this. The WiiM is a streamer. If you're connecting these speakers to your computer you don't need the WiiM in the middle. Your Schitt stack probably has much better dac than the WiiM too.

I like the Kanto YU6 sound. It's a little bit warm and I think makes for good music listening.

That would cover most of your home theater needs, since not a lot of audio tracks use the rear speakers in streaming, though it's super cool when they do. That being said you will need something to power those and if it's for home theater you may end up wanting a subwoofer. Try it with out one first though if you want to keep the budget down.
can you suggest what to pair with it for powering?

You can pair S3 or S5 subwoofer this

Or

I heard that the sound is pretty solid. I'm going that route once I move to my new place next year.
The second link is really legit. Works good for stereo listening too. You will probably want the sub with it though and that costs extra. Their 3D imaging is probably the best in the business.

If you can get a good price on the first it's probably worth it compared to what you were looking at as well.

Once you pay for the receiver and all the speakers, the price is fairly comparable, too. With these you don't need cables either. The only thing I worry about are interruptions in the connection if you have too much signal interference in the area.

If you need additional connections, you can pair it with one of these bad boys:

Yeah it's one of the few home theater in a box solutions I actually have considered. It got really good reviews from Andrew Robinson.

I'm skeptical of active speakers though. It's my own issue lol.

I don't think soundbar systems really compare to a receiver + passive speakers, but if you go the soundbar route its much cheaper to get a samsung 990d or better version whenever they are on sale for $700ish. Comparable sound to the bravia and 1/3 of the price.
