You could pop in and buy some quick upgrades, then back out. I don't think I can handle that. But... average of dps over some rounds, and then just compare with total HP for each round. Then arena can be increased until that dps is too low. But still needs a few rounds for average dps. And it must be communicated to the player. Fuck browsers. Maybe just include a Windows build and refer to that from the web build. edit: but upgrading would be a bigger hassle than just an F5... it would need to be essentially finished for that to work.
You do an array of the last 10 arena DPS outputs. Take that average and compare it to the total HP for the arena level. (cap it at 99% so there's always a slight chance of failure.) This should give you a "win probability" percentage, which you could put right under the arena number. Since you know what % a given rank of a given talent will increase max DPS by, then when they buy a new rank you calculate how much that increases their DPS, recalc win probability, update number. ;)

I think I will stick to the easy stuff for now :) And then include a Windows build when I'm "done".

For bosses, it could be as simple as blowing up a regular mob with very little graphics changes (horns, different color eyes, color variant...), it doesn't have to be a fancy model, I think the basic pixel look is fine anyway so you don't want anything too convoluted or it'd look a bit out of place.

Or a boss that's immune to certain damage types but more vulnerable to others. This could be your tool to encourage diversification of rank allotment rather than raw min/maxxing.

geez idea overload here lol. I will still stick to the easy stuff or I'll never get done. They do look pretty cool, though.

Just file the ideas away. Once Idle Earl is done maybe they come in useful elsewhere, or you get REALLY bored and we eventually see Idle Earl II:Arena Boogaloo

I still don't grasp all this stuff about it not being displayed. I mean you guys haven't all bought mini third monitors exclusively for Earl yet?

(Full disclosure, that's a USB-c third monitor that is also a touchscreen I used as a touch controller when I'm doing meetings) But it does also make a cute third monitor for this.

Man I need a small monitor like that to help setup my NVR when I add a camera. The NVR has HDMI or VGA out and I’ve just hauled a spare monitor in there. I’ve got a power strip for external power… hmm just reminded me when I saw your picture.

This one works powered off my PCs USB port, I like it for the touchscreen portion but that's finicky to get set up right.

It's nice to drag pop up windows and things like zoom meeting controls onto. But I'll admit it was an impulse buy that I'm just having fun with. heh

I just grabbed a $60 10.1” off Amazon. We’ll see how it works!

I have a couple of those usbc monitors for work, they’re great for traveling so you don’t have just your singular laptop screen. I got 15” or 16” ones so I can actually read the text though. There are some dual versions that attach your laptop screen itself and fold up that are cool too. You open your laptop and unfold them and have three screens.

Yeah I have a Asus USB-C one for work travel. For some reason one day it stopped working from my USB-C port and just keeps giving me a DisplayPort unsupported error. Another one of those annoyances with my stupid Lenovo. Not that the monitor works any different really off of regular USB port.

Sorry to derail our Idle Earl talk!

if you bring a laptop and a tablet w/ you, you can try SuperDisplay it'll make your tablet act as a second monitor, works flawless, even works wifi, i think it was 10bucks or so

it even works on your phone

Man just buy one of the $60 knockoff brands instead. They work and out of eight or so people at work with them no one has had any issues and we all travel with them. You can buy 3 for the price of that asus one!

isn't the touch screen inaccurate on those?

No idea. Mines not a touch screen. I’m using it as another monitor connected to a laptop, which has a mouse. I’m not interested in touching it.
