just to show an alternative use for it, i use my phone w/ that software to mirror my main screen and have it act as like an expensive touchpad if i'm lazy sometimes and i put it right in the middle cuz of my split keyboard

OK, getting an odd "halo of golden coins" effect on Earl. Around arena 10k
I put him in the pirate outfit as it seem apropos for having apparently a shuffling mass of gold coins on his back.

The effect is persistent over arenas.

Unfortunately I could not reproduce this (but you are the second one reporting it). There is a new version now that might help.

It seemed to start after I was mindlessly pouring money into gold value for a while and got it over 250 ranks. Or maybe a combo of that with the arena level I was at (over 10k). I rebirthed this morning, so I'll watch to see when it resurfaces as it's gone now.

It should be fixed right now! Make sure you have version 0.42.

A dumb question, perhaps, to fellow Idle Earl players or other infinite games, when do you consider the game "beaten"?

I'm at arena 9092 as I type this, with all monsters uncovered, all skins unlocked except the one for 8 rebirths because I've only done it 3 times, and all skills unlocked and upgraded really high obviously.

I have 450 diamonds and 750 monster credits that would become more diamonds should I do another rebirth, but my income bonus is already at 1748797% so I don't really see a point except bigger faster numbers.

I suppose there isn't an actual "last arena" in this kind of game, there's no Game Over screen, so when would you decide it's a good moment to consider it done, in your opinion?

I was considering a message when everything is unlocked. Like, you did it, gratz, etc, etc. You unlocked everything but can keep going if you wish. So it feels done at that point.

Edit: Any suggestions for what is required to wrap it up for a 1.0 version? Like, must have.

Maybe a few pixelated animated fireworks similar to your fireballs but with various colors and a larger explosion around your message, or a pop-up "game over" screen with some pixel art of a sated Earl and some dead monsters or something, but yeah a congratulations message to get the point across sounds good to me.

I think the point of most "idle games" is that it just runs. Sure there's a point where you've unlocked everything, but it's a never ending escalation of numbers and fighting the cost curve. In my case that means running a few days, then rebirth to harvest diamonds, and rebuild faster, and repeat to see how long I can keep fighting the never ending cost curve.

Kind of how a lot will add Tournament or PVP modes in some fashion. While Tournament may not directly have you “fight” other players, it does rank you against how far, fast, or efficient you got there. So you’re constantly competing and spending resources ($) to get betterer than others.

I do a lot of idle/incremental games on Steam. I usually have 3 to 5 running at any given time. I'm running Earl on one screen amd 3 idle steam games as we speak.

I usually go for 100% achievements and full unlocks before I'm "done" with an idle game.

I thought this game was great till I copied the backup save. When I tried to start where I left off it told me to piss off and I'm not starting again. Lol

Don’t try to fix widescreen. I have seen so many people waste time trying and barely anyone uses widescreen. As cool as widescreen is it’s just not worth the time for a tiny indie game. And really Haus’s screenshot doesn’t look too bad, I’ve seen some be basically unplayable, a little extra dead space isn’t a big deal.

OK, my obsessive number brain note of the day...

When I was around 6-6.5 Qi/sec in passive income I noticed I was getting around .5% Credit progress per tick.
I am now at 7.66Qi/sec and getting less? (around %.38 progress per tick).

Intended behavior? I mention this because I guess I'm in what would be the "end game raiding" mode of Earl here, where it's all about building up credit accrual, then letting it cook for a few days, then rebirthing to cash in for diamonds and do it all again, but faster.
