Kind of disappointed this isn't an actual attempt to make an adaptation of The Divine Comedy. I looked it up and there really hasn't been an attempt to do it in the last century.

It's not really a "story" in the traditional sense though is it? Dante gets led through purgatory hell and heaven, it's a spiritual journey kind of thing, but there's not really like, character arcs or anything?

Which of course doesn't mean it couldn't be made into a story, it just doesn't seem like the easiest thing to adapt.

Not to get ‘deep’ or anything… but…

I found the anime based off Dante’s inferno video game to be very well done.

It is like the animatrix where there are different artist-directors-styles but for each level of hades / hell.

I have no idea if this was planned, but by the time you get “used” to the visuals it changes, it keeps you in discomfort for the entire thing. I think its more effective due to this as animation vs some live action.

The visuals throughout are appropriately jarring and even throughly provoking in line with the story. Is it faithful to the source - source? Yes and no. I never did play the game, it’s a “GoW clone” I believe.

You do not want to go to hell afterwards viewing it, that is for sure…
