This is what I think of every time. That's my favorite episode of the Simpsons, or at least the one I think about the most, even before all this Cybertruck nonsense.

Could be strategy. Do the retardo original for the diehards, let them prove it out as functional and/or fix any issues that aren't going to turn off the cultists anyway, then make gen 2 more normal looking with the same function.
