What does "financed" even mean in that case? On a credit card as opposed to cash?
Correct. They then extrapolate the percentage of credit card bills that aren't paid on time and said that 67% doesn't "intend to pay it off."

Kind of a silly stat. It's just another way of saying 95% of people who bought stuff on BF used a card instead of cash- which sounds about right for 2025. Especially when so many purchases are made online. Can't exactly pay with cash online.

Even the 67% is probably misleading. If you are carrying a balance on your card that exceeds what you spent on BF and don't fully pay it off, I'm sure you count as part of the 67%.

That said, economy is definitely weakening, there are much better indicators flashing red.

How do they know so many don't intend to pay it off in 30 days. I do almost all of my discretionary spending on CCs, its just free money between the 1-5% back, the points, and the arbitrage of not having to pay for ~30-60 days before interest accrues. If you pay your CCs off 100% of the time every time its a no brainer.

My position on this is similar. Who tf uses cash these days? I use my rewards CC for everything. Literally just tap my watch or phone to pay for a simple purchase as a pack of gum or cup of coffee. Every 2 weeks, I pay the balance in full. Never accrue interest.

I actually put nearly 100% of my day to day stuff on a CC, because of the point systems we all talk about. id be foolish not to. I also save a random 1-3% on stuff because of CC programs that randomly pop up. 2% cash back at circle K, 10 back at wine-insiders….etc

I got my first credit card before I was old enough to drink. I haven't made a large cash purchase (outside of cars and homes) since then. All my daily/misc purchases go on a card. Pay it off right away, get rewards of various types.

I keep some cash in the wallet in case payment systems go down, and I keep a stash of cash at home, but I don't use it in regular commerce at all.

Paid my own way through college and I didn't live at home, so even though I worked the whole time, I came out of college with 10k on a cc.

First year out of school I began to understand the debt trap, as I was paying a couple hundred a month on the card and still not making a dent bc of the interest. Felt absolutely awful.

I got very lucky and randomly came into a 10k gift and spent every penny of it to fully pay off the card, even though I had an old beater car and most of my clothes were still from the early/mid 90s.

After I paid off that card (which i still have) I said never fucking again am I going to pay a dime of cc interest. And I never have.

Like others, i use a cc for almost all my purchses for rewards, but I pay it off every month without exception.

Who knows where they come up with this stat but probably just reverse-engineered payment-plan selection data.

No idea how they guess how much people plan on paying off what they purchased on black Friday. SWAG I assume.

The option premiums on Ibit are insane right now. If 48 really is the bottom you can still go deeper than that and still get a good return. I'll be able to close out my Dec 26 42 strikes super early and probably roll up a bit.

Just bought 500 more IBIT but patience is now over with this bounce, we fail here I'll stop out and reassess

Hourly chart you can see the challenge this area has been. That higher low two days ago and then bounce was great to see but if bulls can't get it over this level then higher chance its going to want to test lower (~77 BTC), setup still very alive for a squeeze towards 99-100k so I want to be there for it but I'm also not giving back yesterday's rally.

Do you have a stop in place or are you just watching your cost basis and if it hits you pull the trigger?

I've realized "getting out" is where I struggle, so I'm curious to know how you think about it and setup for it.

My favorite card is my HEB card, I get a fuck ton of cash back from food and gasoline. I’ve had this card for 18 months or so, everything else I use my Amazon card. It’s a great card, your meat is heb brand, your gas is heb brand, deli is heb brand, so you get a fuck ton of cash back. Outside of my mortgage food and fuel are my biggest expenditure, it’s a no brainer.

i shop religiously at HEB and didn't get that card last time I considered it. maybe I need to reassess. is all the butchered mean considered heb brand? at least once a quarter, sometimes 2, you get 5% on all grocery stores w/ discover it or chase freedom, that's probably way I didn't bother. if either of those don't have a gas or grocery bonus, they aren't in my wallet. 99% of the time, i'm using my fidelity card for 2%. probably not the best return, but the return actually goes into savings vs just spending it into the ether.
