Khane Khane having a sell lock from your Broker when getting assigned IPO shares isnt unheard of. You need to read the fine print.

Vanguard doesn't have actual IPO allocation programs, I'd only be able to buy shares on the open market after it begins trading. That's 100% certain. However, the people at Vanguard made it sound like the ticker won't even be available to trade until a day+ after that, which is what I'm pretty sure is incorrect. I guess I didn't phrase it well

I'm conflicted here because there's a lingering question about when the IPO hits Friday how much are other people with pre-IPO equity going to get? How much of that will they sell? How big will the "Sell the news" swing be.....

Overall, if you bought every stock that IPOd and kept them 3 years you'd actually underperform the market (there have been studies on that one) but then the question becomes will SpaceX be the "outlier super performer" or not.

Also of note would be with certain indexes have already adjusted their rules so that SpaceX can get into things like the Nasdaq quicky means many of us who own market tracking index funds will functionally "own" it within something like a month.

About the IPO. In the past I thought the chances of a normal investor getting in on a big one was next to nothing. I don't know with SpaceX. Elon did say they would issue another round of stocks shortly after the IPO.

Fidelity offers me IPOs all the time. I get emails almost weekly. I’ve only ever done it once. There are some rules around using it as well though I can’t remember off the top of my head, may even be different per IPO but it has to do with holding periods and such.

im in for 100 shares on a flyer in case they pull off data centers in space and claim ownership over mars or something. At least thats my request so we’ll see. With fidelity There is a 15 day hold period and almost no asset rules (think like 2k in your account)

Sea of red in futures tonight. I guess the market is expecting a bad inflation report, not that I think it will be accurate at all.

Still just sector rotation like last week. Tech / AI is selling, which is basically all of the index weight and dragging SPY & QQQ down with it. However, consumer staples, healthcare, dividend stocks, etc are all solidly green on these heavy red market days.

On top of this, overnight you had the US and Iran exchanging strikes again. There is probably a bit of risk off waiting to see if it was simply a flash in the pan and the ceasefire holds.

Opened up accounts with Schwab and started the process of transferring from Vanguard. Vanguard is mostly fine for what I need but every once in a while I can't do something I'd like to do. Already initiated the transfer of my individual brokerage account, waiting on the IRA since that's my "trading" account and I want to see how SpaceX shakes out and don't want that cash tied up.

Figured this might happen but getting this error when trying to create a limit buy order on Vanguard for SPCX

And their offices are not open yet so I can't call to place the trade. Sigh.

I'm probably way off, I'm not buying SpaceX but I thought you had to put in your intent to buy ahead of time and then could buy at 10am today.

I did call Fidelity once after hours around 9pm and got a real person that spoke english and they fixed the issue with my account in minutes. Was super impressed. She said she was in North Carolina and sounded like it.

Broker dependent, obviously, but I can place a limit order in on Lightspeed.

Fidelity also has allowed me to queue up a limit order.

Interesting tidbit on the SpaceX thing today. It will trade on two exchanges. NASDAQ, and.... NASDAQ-Texas

Maybe I just haven't run into it before, but today is literally the day I realized there is such a thing as a NASDAQ exchange that was Texas based.
