I decided to put some money in FMTM today. It’s got a bit of an expense ratio but it’s SPY on crack last 6 months. Figure worth 25k or so.

Why are you recommending leveraged ETFs in here?

It's just Invesco QQQ. Which is the Nasdaq. You can invest in both that and an S&P ETF but it's like 6 on one hand and a half dozen on the other.

TQQQ and SQQQ... is that serious advice? The fuck?

Why are we "obviously" joking and just responding to someone's serious questions with bad advice and emojis in the investing thread in the "grown up" forum?

Technically it's 3 on one (3x leverage and 3x short).

No one is recommending these funds.

Also, we're talking about $500.

Look up the holdings from these and decide what fits her risk profile and portfolio.

Because someone thought they were dealing with people sophisticated enough to understand that a triple leveraged ETF and it's opposite short ETF is obviously not what you should seriously be long term investing in, based upon the context of the exchange.

Now you compound the stupidity on display here by acting butthurt about it? Get a grip.

In fairness, asking where to put $500 with no other context is not a serious question.

$500 will get you:

2.5 shares NVDA or
1.5 shares of MSFT or
5 shares of NOW or
40 shares of NOK or
.75 shares of SMH or
3 shares of SPMO or
17 shares of SCHD

We have zero context of portfolio size, allocations, risk etc. What serious advice could we be expected to give there?

First of all he did give context. Secondly, if someone comes into this thread with a question, its because they don't know the answer and respect this section of the forum, and the people who visit it, enough to ask.

Thirdly, you should have the social skills and decorum to understand that if a question is being asked you should give a real answer because if someone is asking a question, typically, as a well adjusted adult, you should understand they genuinely don't know.

This isn't the Investing Trolls Thread. It doesn't matter how much money it is. There are many, many people who have used this thread to start investing regularly based on advice and discussion here. His wife might want to use that advice to start DCA'ing into whatever fund is recommended here.

I shouldn't have to explain this.

Dude spare me your sanctimony. As you can fucking see, I listed out a group of low-cost index funds and what they do. What the fuck did you do besides miss the fucking joke?

Also, one of the best ways to learn is by learning what NOT to do. Probably not a good idea to seek advice without context on an internet forum? I do trust people here and I truly believe they know what they're doing and can provide good advice. But asking, what fund should I put my money into is akin to asking which fucking team should I bet on this weekend?

I don't know your portfolio allocation, your risk tolerance, your income, your taxation, nothing. And yes, I do expect that at the very least, this forum has enough sophistication to ask a follow up question or recognize when they're being fucked with.

If Sludig Sludig blindly put his money into TQQQ/SOXL based on my zero-context reply, that would 1000% be on him and I would honestly feel kinda bad, but not really. And guess what, based on the replies, now he knows, that's probably not the best idea.

If his wife did want to DCA into a fund, then maybe provide that context as well as her age, risk tolerance, etc. I'm not going to sit here and guess, but I am going to make a joke about it and you can fuck right off if you think that's out of decorum on a FUCKING VIDEO GAME MESSAGE BOARD.

I'm done justifying myself to a humorless moron.

This is exactly the kind of shit that does NOT belong in this section of the forums. I love that you have the audacity to call me sanctimonious though, with this horseshit self righteous reply.

Cad Cad you're really the only active mod that I think might clean this shit up.

Again, what advice have you provided outside of being the obvious joke police?

I at least had the courtesy of providing some solid low-cost index funds for Sludig Sludig to investigate.
