The problem I had with it is that the case and how the, "investigation" was handled wasn't even interesting. It wasn't Reacher coming to interesting conclusions... the case itself wasn't even interesting.

The comic book villain who still went after Reacher even after his employers died was just ridiculous. As opposed to an interesting whodunit you know whodunit the whole time. It was showing the audience the connection Reacher had to make and was made more campy by the, "I need to save my fallen men" dumb army cliche bitch.

The daughter was cool though.

Movie sucked.

Every campy movie cliche was thrown in there.

Jack Reacher is neigh Godlike... saddle him w/ an escort mission

Jack Reacher oozes too much machismo, saddle him w/ a woman that can do the same job, just as well

Look as far as stupid escort daughter mission goes, the girl wasn't bad, she actually did a good job in the Heroes reboot as well, and she grew up in the city I'm living in now, so her name is passed around, so ok maybe there's a soft spot there.

A hard spot would be Colbie Smuders, you put her in anything, it's hard to hate on her, her performance wasn't cringy at all.

I just didn't care for it, half the time if felt like Jack Reacher babysitting two girls, chased by the evil villian that has something to prove while the token black guy first gets mad then he is the law all of a sudden.

Matinee for me, so i really didn't care, but i wouldn't spend babysitter money on this.

You could certainly view this movie through a SJW prism, where the first movie had just two women, one an apparently very pregnant* Rosamund Pike who just sat there and was two steps behind him to deliver exposition, and the other a borderline whore, and the one black guy turns out evil.

Hence in this one the women all have to be just as competent as him and the one black guy has to be a hero, despite dialogue in an earlier scene borderline implying he was in on it.

Thinking about it though, I'm wondering if things went haywire in the production once they moved to New Orleans. The really questionable special effects don't kick in until then, and all the locations become super cheap warehouses / empty runways / paper mache roofs / generic hotels, other than the parade.

*If you were wondering why she was so busty then.
