I still don't see it.
I am convinced that a good VR headset could provide a great gaming experience, but I am also convinced that it simply cannot be anything else than a niche of the video game market. Why? Because it is too extreme an experience, too removing, making it socially difficult to accept ('my boyfriend was playing Silent Hill VR and when I tapped his shoulder to let him know I was here, he went into cardiac arrest'). Not to mention people don't like 3D because they must wear glasses for it to work, so no matter how super immersive VR is, making them wear headgear is a pipe dream.
