This was pretty bad. Didn’t feel like a Jurassic Park movie at all. They could have taken out the storyline of the Mexican family that did nothing for the story at all and saved an hour of filming. The final boss dinosaur looked stupid as fuck too.

Getting real bad reviews. Got some front line reactions from friends who just got back from a late showing. People falling asleep in the theater. The final boss just being the final stench that stunk the joint out. The aftertaste on this movie is bad.

There hasn’t been a real JP movie since The Lost World tbh.
most franchises get 1 maybe 2 fun movies. Usually by 3 onward it’s no longer the original writer or original director and the entire thing is just a low effort cash cow
(Robocop 3, terminator 3, predator 3, the matrix series, alien3 etc)

crazy. i thought maybe about seeing it sat afternoon but every premium screen was 95% sold out on afternoon screenings, people were really jonesing for summer tentpole this july 4th
they rushed the movie out to make it july 4th which was crazy at the time (couldn't book IMAX screens) but now seems smart in hindsight, lack of a family friendly summer movi up till now really had families ready. Wonder if its gonna hurt Superman though.

There is no story anymore, not since the first one.
Could just be habit too. My parents who are retired, go to the movies once a week. They don't seem to care too much about the movie. As when I ask what they saw, since there is nothing good atm, they have to remember what it was and seem to just pick at random each week. I think they do it more just to go out together and enjoy a move theatre experience. And they watch anything from horror movies, to action, to animated.
There is no story anymore, not since the first one.

Jurassic Park was great. Jurassic World was really good.
The Lost World was probably my biggest disappointment for a movie as far as comparing what I was expecting and what I got from it. The book may have been my favorite Michael Crichton book. We were in Florida on vacation when the book released and I got a hard cover from Universal Studios or wherever we were...pretty sure I finished it before we got home. So when the movie came out, I was excited to see the book on the big screen. It was nothing like the book. Jurassic Park was close, with a few changes...I think they switched the personalities of the boy and girl, iirc...and Hammond was more obviously evil instead of just naive. The Lost World wasn't even close. "Hey Michael...can you write a sequel so that we can completely ignore everything except the title?" The movie/franchise would have done a lot better if they had just stuck to the script.

I remember the 3rd one with Sam Neill coming back was actually kind of entertaining. And it wasn't anything to write home about but I enjoyed it more than the second one, and infinitely more than the newer movies.
Also, Alien 3 is a great movie, just have to watch the directors cut, and Predators was a pretty fun film.

That's probably like the transformer movies, maybe it's got to do with a lot of kids that just want to go see dinosaurs or giant robots, or they're Oriental. Who the hell knows.

I just don’t like Adrian Brodey tbh. Not a fan. JP3 was originally going to be written and directed by Spielberg but he ended up not pushing through and they started filming it without even completing the script.
Tbh, the only movies I know that do well without a finish script are comedies (as most of it is improved anyway) Iron Man 1.
Aliens (1986) is one of my favorite movies but Alien3 had no creative input by Dan O'Bannon or Ronald Shusett. They’re the original scriptwriter and creators of Alien and Aliens, albeit Aliens was mostly penned by James Cameron, but he sought creative advice from Obannon and Shusett.
Oddly enough, Cameron wrote Terminator 1, Aliens, and Rambo II all during the same period. Dude was a mad man.
the thing about Alien3 for me is they killed of Newt and Hicks off screen and before the first act.

Yeah I had a beef with Newt and Hicks getting killed off originally, but as I've gotten older I kind of appreciated it for the fact that it was a vastly different movie than the first two. First one was just a horror movie monster movie, second one was an awesome action flick, and the third one was more of a character drama. They're all good in their own right but they're completely different films.
I mean part 3 is infinitely better than that stupid Romulus movie that just came out, and way better than Prometheus and Covenant.
As far as Adrian Brody goes, I think is a bad actor and I thought he did a pretty good job as Royce in the predators movie. The movie was definitely a bunch of callbacks to the original, but Robert Rodriguez at least understands the source content and I think did a pretty admirable job of making a fun film for people that like that franchise. It was definitely more of a comic book type film, or I'm sure it would have been a perfect dark horse comic. Pretty sure they actually did a continuation of that movie's story in the comics but I haven't read them.

I’m sure it’s a good movie, I think I just don’t like character dramas. I like action or plot focused movies. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If a movie has won an academy or Oscar award, it’s almost a guarantee I won’t like it.
after how awful Covenant was, I didn’t even give Romulus a chance. Likewise with JP Rebirth.
