I like a good R-rated action movie, but the majority of it looks like PG-13 + CG blood splatter (excepting the nose scene). If they'd gone R for Venom 2, I would have watched it.

I find it weird to hire someone like J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, A Most Violent Year) to do an origin story for a super hero. Not like it's beneath him or anything like that, but I am not sure his set of skills is best used in this type of project.
