I think it"s about time this problem is addressed. First of all, the loot tables for boss mobs in the Elemental planes are abymsally small (actually for the entire expansion). We"re talking 1-3 unique items per boss - MAX. Compare this with any average VT boss, for example, who average out 10 unique items per boss and you can see a problem.
You have to then factor in that the PITA to get to these bosses and to kill them is much, much greater than VT"s PITA (which is quite frankly saying a lot about the PITA itself) and you see the problem growing.
Now, it"s blatantly obvious little to no thought was given in itemizing most if not all of these mobs. The NTOV syndrome is happening again with elemental armor already ("*Groan* "Silk Elemental Boot pattern on this...." grats rot). The elemental molds are taking up loot slots to boot. I strongly disagree with this philosophy. The way I see elemental armor at this point is that we"ll definitely need to be in it to progress past the Tier 4 Overlords. The only way to get them is on 3-7 day timer bosses who can RANDOMLY drop one freaking piece. Coincidentally, they beat more ass than anything previously seen in game.
So four months down the line when every caster in your guild has 2 silk bracers and a set of silk boots while the melee are still fumbling all over themselves in their absolute shit gear, you"re gonna hear it - luckily you have me to tell you what to do right now.
Let me briefly summarize so far: Our "bread and butter" loot drops only in the elemental planes, zones of massive PITA. The items actually only drop off bosses, and the most difficult of the bosses at that, and almost always one item per boss (which is generally a mold) thus negating an actual loot drop. Now imagine if in NTOV, for example, the armor pieces only dropped off of one of the 13 or so dragons, took up a loot spot in the dragon"s loot pool, and the dragon only dropped ONE item. That would be horrible, even for NTOV.
The solution is pretty simple. Design REAL loot for boss mobs. Add mini-bosses that are campable spawns in each zone that drop molds 1-3 at a time. For example, in the Field of Gib in PoFire you could have a Flame Lord Berserker be a rare spawn which has the chance to drop a mold. It would be a normal rare mob with a PH, etc.. the ones we"ve all grown to love. Each zone should have an ASSLOAD of these mini"s so that one zone doesn"t monopolize player traffic (which is happening right now because PoWater and PoEarth are huge festering shitpiles).
The way I see it, this needs to be looked at now, not three months from now when everyone is pissed off and disillusioned.
One last note and I pray I see this fixed ASAP. YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER SEE A SPECTRAL PARCHMENT DROP IN AN ELEMENTAL PLANE. Especially not off a boss mob that has 500k hps and Quad <b>AE</b> Rampages for 2950 a pop with a .5 second delay. That is COMPLETE HORSESHIT. Rune drops were upped in some retarded tier 3 zones to appease the cattle. Wait until your cattle reach the Tier 4 zones and see nothing but end game boss ring encounters net Runes.
