The downfall of Destiny does suck, They just needed to repeat the final years of D1 before D2 came out and improve upon that. So easy, so simple. Instead they just kept doubling down on PVP which was the worst aspect of that game.

Tell me more about D2 by telling me you haven't played D2.

Which is fine if it was good, but the combat and hitboxes were just not good for PVP with the crazy speed and movement.

There it is. Thanks.

You are 100% cooked if (and from the written post) you think it's hard to hit people in D2. If you're saying it's too easy? I'd kinda agree.

Yeah even I was OK at Destiny PvP, well not OK, but serviceable, at least in my head. And at no point was Destiny ever tailored to PVP, It was always Destiny PvPers bitching about being left out every single expansion and season. Years and years and they added like 3 maps 2 of which were Destiny 1 maps, lol. In fact I think they sunset more maps than added.

Games so boring it’s insane. I had two matches today where I literally shot my gun like 5 times and saw a grand total of 5 pve enemies. Just a completely empty, uninteresting world that looks great. Gunplay is awesome but you don’t even need a gun because there’s bugger all to do. DOA

Stuff like that worries me because it is either a design issue or a match performance issue.

I would have to say it is a design issue.. I think they literally threw some PvE into it, and it's the most basic shit I've ever seen.

RIP Bungie, enjoy Concord 3.0 you fucking morons.

What map were you on? Different maps have different mob densities and max crew limits.
Perimeter (beginner) and perimeter are super low/low respectively.

not that I disagree with you at all, it is super empty overall. I tend to run solo que so I like it better being sparse but still it’s pretty bad.

We should have fun with SOMETHING from this game - so I wonder what the documentary of the fall of Bungie will be subtitled.

"When the Bungie Cord Snapped"

Perhaps a case study. "Bungie's failure in leveraging Claude 4.5 Bonnet to create a UI"

"Bungie: "Didn't Earn it" A heartwarming story of Marxists, without any talent, getting hired to develop a game.

Put in over 20 hours mostly solo during the slam and walking away having liked it. Will play on launch, looking forward to Thursday. I think most of the criticisms are pretty obviously overblown. Progression against something like Arc Raiders is almost reversed, gear makes a much bigger difference here and so you can't just load in with a starter Fero and go against a rocketeer or whatever.

The most successful teams will PVP early and wrap up with PVE events for the last 10-15 min. Saw multiple people get Marathon vault keys from events on other maps, so the gameplay loop will be to stock up on keys with your buds on the first 3 maps and push Marathon when you're ready depending on how many keys you own.

Complaints about lack of PVP will flip once the third map is available, it's basically Stella Montis.

I do not think they are in the slightest - and this game will die and finally take out Bungie along with it. And for whoever decided to make that travesty of a User Interface, they should be banned to a fucking island without any use of electronics ever again.

The game does take about 10 hours or so to really click and build some gear, but no one with any gaming experience should be confused by the UI for more than 10 minutes. The majority of what you interact with is a simple color coordinated grid just like Arc.

You are smoking some serious Meth right now if you think the UI takes 10 minutes to get used to compared to anything functional in any UX schema. If we are comparing to Arc Raiders there are distinct usable items, easy accessible during gameplay, with distinguishable icons. (Variations in bandage/healing items and shield items) and from grenade/mine types down to distinction between meds and adrenaline.

In Marathon - you not only have poor control schemas to get to quick use items (two steps instead of one to access the item) you also have a shit ton of pixelated nonsense icons which do not distinguish between any of those items at all.

It is, by far, the most awful user interface I have ever seen.

All of these icons are easily distinguished in Marathon after a short time. I can recognize them all at a glance.

Smart heal is one button press for almost all consumables, auto switches to poison/hacking cures etc. whenever you need it. Equipment like grenades are clearly marked in your UI and are also a single button press. Once again, the icons are clearly distinguished after a short time in game.

Not once in my 20+ hours did I need to hold open the quick access wheel.

If you have been gaming for more than a day and you think one of these screens is simple is the other is confusing, you have cognitive issues that need addressing.

And you have always been a Bungie shill. The UI is shit. All around. Everyone, save you and a few die hard grasping at straws cotton in the wind fanatics defending the shit that is Bungie, are saying this is the worst UI they have ever experienced. And if you can’t tell the difference in easy to recognize icons between the two, you are trolling or high as a kite locked up in a mental ward with a day pass for internet access. Which the latter would explain why this game ticks your tock while 99% of the gaming population is roasting Concord 3.

But don't take my word for it - let's ask a newcomer to both games who played the shit out of Destiny 2.

MusicForFish MusicForFish was trained on Arc Raiders in 2 games. We discussed our Marathon "Experience" (Neither of us had to wash down 15 variations of psychedelics to understand the UI)

What say you?

I can tell the difference in icons, sure, but none of them mean anything without time spent in each game. I can tell you what every item in both menu screens do from here at a glance because I have played both of them. It's really not that difficult or serious.

You live in a fantasy. This game is not going to crash and burn like you want it to.
