this whole thing is such a cobbled together mess that I doubt they have the capability. Just enjoy the memberberries while they're still fresh.
It's really a shame someone can't buy this from the smoking remains of Gaz's creditors and get a license from Marvel and get this back into retail. I imagine the rights and purchases etc would be too complicated to resurrect at this point but one can dream a bigger dream.

I will enjoy the memberberries more fully once the lag gets better.

It's still a clunky 10 year old game that was killed by an extremely unpopular update. I logged in this morning to grind some midtown madness and lost interest after maybe 15 minutes. I guess it's actually kind of relieving in a way that I know there's no chance I'm gonna go insane and rack another 4 digits of playtime.

It's better but still frustratingly laggy. Powers that didn't previously have cooldown now have a cooldown, I don't know if that's to take a load off the server or if it just didn't work before. Now I remember why I didn't play so much/cosmic Nova, all the freaking cooldowns; in a normal environment when I could buy boosters, I would have played him to 60 and shelved him but holy shit this sucks. Going to switch to someone else I enjoy playing more, or play cyclops, who I actually like but going against the grain no longer.

New server will be a whole new account without current progression, so without current heroes, costumes, progression etc from what I read today, and they will figure something out about merger in the future, which sounds retarded; just let people migrate accounts but who knows what the back-end data structures look like. They would probably need someone with some time to build something for that kind of migration. I am many things but def not a DBA.

They give you 5100 G's, you can certainly buy boosters. With a summer boost, and 5x experience boost (400% exp increase), you can level 1-60 in under 4 hours easily while being relaxed. If you really grind probably more like 2.5 to 3 hours.

Dunno, I'm enjoying it. BUE never really bothered me as much as most, at least not the fundamental changes to movement nor the change from D2 style skill points to D3 style ability acquisition. The stuff that bothered me was several of the hero-specific changes that neutered certain heroes (Cap and Iron Man being two I can think of immediately). And now the best character is some faggot I don't care about, Nova.

I remember being salty as fuck when the game was taken down (despite not playing it nearly as much as a lot of you) and glad to see it back even if it's not in top shape. Maybe the surge in popularity will get the notice of someone with money.

I was never in to chasing the meta characters and just played the ones I found to be fun or I liked. Most of my time was spent on Hulk and Scarlet Witch. Were/are those characters any good?

Hulk is garbage, Scarlet Witch has solid ST damage and amazing aoe, assuming the BUE didn't take away her iconic 'float around killing everything on the screen' power.

I honestly don't think a 2nd server is going to be enough to reduce the lag. Sure, it'll fix many of the "queue" issues, but if you have 1000 people on each server it won't really matter.

Any of you play COA instead of Tahiti?

A friend asked me about it when I mentioned playing this again...the queues on Tahiti are insane since I've tried to connect yesterday and today, so I'm considering trying COA instead.

Speaking of the entire staff of Tahiti being raging faggots, I was banned from the discord at some point today and I have no idea why because I didn't even use the fucking server at any point this morning.

Which I guess was the nudge I needed to just uninstall this trash. Like Kirun said this is still going to be laggy garbage even with a second server due either to whatever ghetto ass necromancy they used to get it going, Gaz's 10 year old code being a dumpster fire, or both. At least when Gazillion was running the game into the ground it was still crisp and responsive.

What is COA? I've never heard of it.

Yeah, when I played this during its live run, it was never this laggy or unresponsive. I did notice some responsiveness issues when I tried the beta, but I assumed that was just typical EMU quirks (most emulator servers tend to feel slightly slower compared to their original live versions).

However, since the 1.0 release, the performance has taken a massive downturn. While the team can try to point to Gazillion as the root cause, that explanation doesn't fully line up with how the game actually performed when it was live. If it were purely a "bad coding" issue, you'd expect those problems to have been present back then as well but they weren't.

Thanks, man. The way these Tahiti guys have been handling things leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth and I don't think their version of this is going to be stable for a long time.

I'm going to fire this up today or tomorrow and see how the stability is.
Queue is slower to get in but performance at least for me in Midtown Madness with a 20ish character is good. I also made an account on COA as well for when that kicks off.

CoA is already live.

It's a post BUE server like Tahiti but has a higher xp mod and seems to have certain events up permanently, like anniversary and armor. Lower population but no queues and no lag. Tahiti is the more "authentic" MH experience whereas CoA is more of the high octane 'you already dumped however many hours into the game the first time, lets speed things up a bit'.
