Covers the story of the id Software founders, centering on John Carmack and John Romero. The book has been mentioned in several threads, but there isn't a thread on it here. It had been on my book list for a while, then Tenks reminded me about it in the Romero Kickstarter thread. So I ordered it and read it.

Some thoughts:
- Carmack is definitely on the spectrum. Spergy as fuck.
- Romero IS a douchebag, but the book made him a more empathetic douchebag.
- Their journey to innovate PC games was pretty amazing.
- It would have been ungodly irritating to work with them.

Who else read it?

Did you enjoy the read Haast? I couldn't put it down and I'm usually not an avid reader.

Yeah, I definitely enjoyed it and had a hard time putting it down at times. I'd recommend it to anyone who gamed in the 90s and 00s.

Fun fact: I went to a wedding reception in the sky lobby of the building Ion Storm was in. The lobby is directly below the separate penthouse they occupied. This was long after they were toast, though.

Read it start to finish yesterday. Great book and brought back a ton of memories of 90s gaming.
