"World of Tanks developer Wargaming.net has bought the Total Annihilation and Master of Orion franchises from Atari, it has confirmed.

Both properties were bought following the Atari IP auction that closed last month. Wargaming beat Monday Night Combat developer Uber Entertainment to Total Annihilation, and Stardock to Master of Orion. Stardock managed to nab the Star Control franchise, though."

Personally I would have liked to see what Stardock would have done with MoO.

Stardock is run by an idiot and hasn't made a good game since they reskinned CivII and put it in space.

Something about the balance on Galactic Civ was so off.

I never did figure out how to fill planets quite right. It seemed like you had to aim for at least 70% banks just to be self-sufficient, and 20% recreation plazas. The Creative perk was grotesquely overpowered. And it had this weird thing where if you saved, quit, and the started again the face of your robot on the galaxy news changed.

For all its faults, it was still worth the price I paid for it. I actually bought that one! And their manual was pretty funny. THIS IS CETI ALPHA V!!!!!

Maybe they can take MoO3 out of the alpha stages it's been in for 20 years.
