I never got into these but always heard good things. What's the main reasoning these are praised? Story?

The old ones are really linear and on rails, exodus did a section on rails for the story then open world areas alternating. Its an amazing game and you should definitely play it.

The colonel is hilarious.

Looks like all the games (Redux) and exodus and expansion are all bundled for 7 bucks. That's an easy purchase.

May as well just play them in order?

If you mean for me, I bought them fill price at release a decade ago. That was the start of never buy unless deep sale or I'm immediately playing

Let me know how far you make it, the old ones are really really outdated in terms of gameplay. Might still be good but I'm unsure.

Next Metro game on the horizon.

Well this is gonna look amazing on the PS5 Pro.

I never got into these but always heard good things. What's the main reasoning these are praised? Story?

Story, and also the visuals are usually top shelf, "best in class" type of visuals for their era. Metro: Last Light on the PS3 was a rare 1080p game and looked like it was from the future / a different console generation. Basically a PS3.5 game. The remasters are fantastic. The gameplay is good too. These games draw me in like few others do, with having to switch out the gas mask filters and small details like that really turning them into masterpieces.

It’s basically Eastern European Fallout

Indeed, they're basically Fallout, in Russia, only instead of a vast open world for unfocused exploration, they follow a more linear storyline through specific locations and go absolutely balls to the wall on making those locations as detailed as possible.

Nobody should sleep on this series. The existing trilogy was pretty much a cult thing, but I have a feeling this fourth one is going to blow up into the mainstream.

Extremely good immersion. Like fallout without "lol 50s". The surface is all nuclear winter scary in some

The immersion is what these games really get right. I still remember some of the events of these games almost like real things that happened, given how realistic it was.

If you mean for me, I bought them fill price at release a decade ago. That was the start of never buy unless deep sale or I'm immediately playing

For years I did a good job avoiding buying things until I was ready to play them, if they were full price (a low-price sale is whatever). Digital was an absolutely not at full price unless I needed it immediately, given the inability to resell them later. Wasn't until the last few years that I fell off with this. Bought Breath of the Wild, Monster Hunter World+Iceborne (basically two games in cost), Oblivion Remake and Clair Obscur all at full price, digitally, close to when they dropped, with full intent to play all of the above. Then never got around to them. Now it bothers me every time I see one of them on sale for like half price on a store shelf.

I hate digital.

Yeah, play them in order, and post updates on how you're doing with 'em. I think Last Light (Metro 2) was my favorite, but all of them pretty much flow together as one tremendous game. As far as shooter trilogy+'s go, I've got them in third place all-time behind the Bioshocks and Metroid Primes, and not far behind either.
