you don't remember it, because it wasn't a thing.

match 1:24 to :09 to sync.

they took a masterpiece and made it gay .

lol

It reminded me of the GameCube SoulCaliber game, every fight intro there is some very existential saying lol

"Debunking the FAKE NEWS that the desert is silent", there's a jukebox if you pay extra! Yes, the problem was the silence of the desert, that's totally what people were complaining about.

Jesus Christ, the internet is fucking stupid.

How do I get more tunes for the jukebox? Only have 3 tunes on there by default, and none of the tracks I actually want to listen to are in those 3. I scanned an amiibo in a store once (just put the box against the Switch 2, no problem), sure as hell didn't buy the thing. Any attempts to google the answer (or even how to bring up the jukebox, which I had to figure out) are met with a zillion results about how you "buy amiibo to unlock jukebox". Yeah, no shit.

In awe over how detailed Metroid Prime 1 remastered is and how good the game is… making me kind of want to get 4… but there is so much about 4 that is dramatically opposed to what makes 1 good…like…other people…talking…and the desert… the talon Overworld…is kinda small but has things to do…the bike just seems…really…gay

Nothing you said is incorrect. I still haven't finished Prime 4. It just isn't good. The ice area was the only one so far that actually felt like the old Prime games, and only for the trip back out of it (every area doubles up in size by making you backtrack). The green crystal farm might be the stupidest thing in the entire series.

Playing hard mode, the game isn't that bad and thankfully you can skip most all dialog and cut scenes helping a lot. Desert area sucks but how little missile ammo drops in the areas I think the crystals were supposed to be how you refill between using the desert. They trickle new green crystals as you progress so you can drive over already collected ones for ammo and hit new green ones. Pretty dumb but I think that is what they were trying for. I use lots of ice as its easy to kill the grievers so freeze and spam and refreeze etc.

Everything is more spongey for hits but I feel just spamming regular shots kills most things fastest unless its a swarm and just use the super thunder shot. Killing the final boss of the mines right now and its a bit tedious but I just suck at locking on and free aiming to the weak spots.

Not complete shit, but read the retro didnt actually start from scratch when they got it, a lot of the initial ideas were kept and retro had to work around that and done the best they could.

If there is a 5th, I'm assuming it will be better if they start from scratch.

Once I beat hard mode I'll likely shelf it, but I'm a big fan and may revisit if they remaster 2 and 3 and play after finishing those.

anyone that tells you the game is not worse then stated is being dumb.

1. the game is not a metroidvania. its entirely linear.
2. half the powerups you get. you have to backtrack to miles to have him enable. so you get an upgrade, and don't get to use it. and instead have to runback.
3. filler. its the shortest metroid, yet also has constant backtracking to miles to activate your powerups, and get new mission directions. the desert.. the green crystal collection.
4. cutscene, after cutscene after cutscene.
5. the desert is dead silent. have to PAY to have music in it. insane.
6. repeative enemies.
7. npc escort missions with "game over restart from checkpoint" if they die.
8. they won't shut up. While Samus herself NEVER talks. its utterly bizarre.
9. desert has stuff you can't use yet. not like, "oh I need a powerup to access it.". no. just shit you know you will need, but haven't been told you can collect yet. so can't. antitheticasl to metroidvanias.
10. another "chosen one" plotline. with psychic/magic aliens.
11. Silas plot is beyond retarded. his motivation is incomprehensible. locked behind 100% the game.
12. every npc gets a fakeout death early. only to be revealed as alive... only for Samus to leave them for dead in the ending. with a fakeout. "press A to leave them for dead" button at the end. you have to press it.
13. boss fights are all lame as fuck compared to older ones. pure zelda ripeoff designs.
14. motorcycle is retarded. the time trial racetrack introduction is ridiculous.
15. "green energy"/crystals. "memory fruit"

All true. It's such a shame. Considering I played Prime 1 and Prime 2 probably a dozen times each over the years (and Prime 3 probably 3 times), once I finish this game I doubt I'm ever going to touch it again.

Unless, of course, they...

I'm a big fan and may revisit if they remaster 2 and 3 and play after finishing those.

...yeah, that. If 2 and 3 get remasters (and they better) I'll probably give this another run after those.

If Nintendo wants to win me over again (right now I have basically no use for them), announce a surprise Metroid Prime 2 + 3 Remastered dropping outta nowhere for Christmas 2026 or something. $50, high-effort. Doesn't even need to be Switch 2, just make it like the first MPR.

I reached Keratos (the ice area boss) this morning, with about 6 hours on the clock. Am I right in thinking I'm roughly halfway done with the game? I'll take a big swing at finishing the rest of it some time in the next few days.

Half way sounds about right.

Fire area isn't to bad once you start, I like that final boss the best, but pre phase 1 boss is tedious.

Mines aren't bad overall but lots of interaction with the troops. First time I watched them, but skipped watching them during my hard mode and I liked it more.

Final boss.....is.....yea, good and bad at the same time!

So that's what I have left? Fire area, Mines area, Chrono Tower? Plus crystal-farming and whatever backtracking I need to do to activate things?

Metroid Primes were fun in era, I couldn't imagine slogging through all that scanning again.

Now Metroid Pinball remaster, that'd be worth playing.

Yea. You already done the forest area and ice. So 2 down, 2 to go.

If you back track for 100% items it isn't to bad a trek, i think all areas have a tube up top morph ball etc. To get from beginning to end quickly. If your scanning a lot they were locked behind lightning keys.

I think they really overdid it with scannable objects in this game. Having every second desk, object, floor panel be scannable was too much. It's the first time I actually felt like a Scan Visor detracted from a game. This guy talks about it a bit:

It's a good review in general and touches on a number of things that I haven't seen any other review actually address (too busy playing that one clip of Myles over and over again while they say unoriginal things, mostly). Like how the art design of the game is full of vaginas.

Speaking of art, I like the look of the Legacy Suit a LOT, and wish it was obtained a bit earlier in the game. It looks like it isn't until VERY late, i.e. more of a Phazon Suit situation than a Gravity or Light Suit situation. MP1's Phazon Suit is another one that you get way too late in its game; IMO it's the best-looking suit in the series and you only have it for, technically, two boss fights and one abbreviated area. Unless you leave most of the artifact-scavenging for the end.

Finished this game on Sunday, a month after it dropped. Mercifully done. The green crystal hunt wasn't as bad as I expected. I just made sure to farm a little bit every time I crossed the overworld desert, and made note of the locations of the giant boulders that needed Power Bombs. At the end I went around and got all those and did all the shrines (which were all quick and easy) and I think that covered like 40% of the crystals in and of itself. Between that and all my light farming sessions between areas, I only had to actively farm crystals for like 20 minutes at the end, to get the last 10% or so of the meter. Farming crystals early also gets you the level 2 beam (which is as high as it goes) sooner; good to get that as early as possible. As the game goes on, it adds more crystals to the overworld, so waiting to farm is an overall time-saver, but definitely get the first 25% done at an early stage for the beam.

Game would have still been better without the green crystals, or Myles, or any of the things that didn't work out well. Hopefully they can do a better job with Prime 5 and take all the feedback into account.

Oh, also, the final boss fight was probably the most annoying and tedious fight in the series. The fact that it makes you repeat said fight if you fail a quicktime event was just the icing on the turd at that point.

Definitely the worst game of the Prime series and one I'll only replay under specific circumstances (if 2 and 3 get remastered and I replay the series) but I don't actively regret spending the time on it like I do with some games.

This was a Metroid game made by people who don't know how to make Metroid.

It would have been fine as a Halo game, because it basically is Halo.

Not Halo, Halo 4+

Have never played any of the Halo games, so they are all bunched together as far as I care.. Was busy as fuck around the time they all were released and afterwards they never interested me. *shrug*

They are all actually dead.

Kraid, Ridley and Mother Brain are clones(As Raven beak was the one behind the whole, Chozo should rule the Universe Plot), Phantoon is kind of a odd ball as he wasn't part of Mother Brains army, the ship crashed into Zebes between Metroid and Super Metroid. Crocomire, Spore Spawn and Draygon are normal inhabitants of Zebes, you can find Draygon clones in Metroid Dread.

It's weird how Draygon and Phantoon are part of the statue over Tourian. The statue should have just been Kraid and Ridley, like the original game. In theory you need to defeat Phantoon and Draygon to get to Ridley during any sort of normal playthrough, anyway.

Also, the boss music should be switched around. The regular boss music (Kraid, Crocomire, Phantoon) should be taken off Kraid and put on Draygon, while the big boss music (Draygon, Ridley) should be taken off Draygon and put on Kraid. That way the two pirate leaders have the big boss music. I'd also double Kraid's HP. He's way too easy.

...not sure why I'm making patch suggestions for a game from 1994. Well, people make hacks of the game all the time.

The Draygon clones in Dread were intriguing. IIRC the water zone in that game didn't have a boss. Maybe Draygon was supposed to be the boss there and got cut due to time or something.

Hopefully with the X Parasites obliterated in Dread, the coast is clear now for more actual Metroids in the next main series game.
