This game is not easy, well at least for someone like me with no MTG experience. The movement is so limited, at least early on that on bosses it takes me 3 or for rounds to even get in range to do real damage. I made it to the sewers boss and got absolutely shit on. I have about 3 hours in the game over 4 sessions. I am going to try an block out a few hours just for this game this evening.

The duality of roguelites:

I fail a run embarrassingly, getting wiped on the first Hard battle in the Alley. Run after that, I beat the secret boss of Act 1 at full health, which apparently unlocks class specific armor. Mind blown yet again by the amount of content hidden in this game.

Finally got a long play session. This game is not as hard as I first thought, my real problem was my economy back home. Been able to breed 4 solid cats for each run and have been breezing through the Hard Paths. Great game and what is crazy is I know I have only scratched the surface of synergies.

You have no idea....

I just opened up Act 3, have all but 2* classes (1 isn't a full class per se). Act 2 gets a bit easier the more you run it. I still haven't really buckled down and worked on breeding an army of super cats, but I do have a regular breeding pool of eyebrow mutations (+1 Ranged), so that is something.

I am also seriously contemplating buying the damn OST, instead of just ripping the files myself. Ridiculon really deserves it, the music is as much of a masterpiece as the game itself.

I love being part of the next big thing and want to help uncancel someone who is being cancelled but this game seems to have been designed diametrically against my likes: Roguelike, puerile Millennial cringe humor, MTG mechanics? I will have to enjoy this one from the sidelines: PROCEED. Will check out the OST, though.

I've been playing it for a few hours and have cleared 4-5 stages, it's not hard but like any tactics game it really draws you in and kills time if you aren't paying attention. I'm not a fan of being forced to return to the house instead of proceeding on to the next stage. They really want you playing it over and over and over to unlock and use different units, which is a setup that works better in a roguelike. I'm still enjoying it but it gets tiresome slogging through old stages again and again before you're allowed to move on. But that said, they did make an effort to toss in a variety of events and mini bosses, giving older stages some depth.

As for mechanics I dislike how vague abilities are, there's limited information about range and some of the finer details for enemy attacks, which can be frustrating. You should be able to tell at a glance the range of your attacks and new abilities before you take them in a level up. I'm not a fan of the art style either but after awhile you stop caring, as others have said the music is good. It's a decent game all in all if you don't mind playing through the same stages repeatedly.
