What else should I watch?

I've been going through Best Movie Lists for 2000s before I work my way down to 1990s and 1980s.

Some dude put this list together and its been pretty helpful.

IMDb: 100 BEST MOVIES OF THE PAST DECADE (2000-2009) - a list by gjrb01
I've been working my way down the list. The next 3 I haven't watched yet are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Memento (seen this actually but a very long time ago so I barely remember it) and Catch Me If You Can.

Eternal Sunshine is that Carey movie isn't it?

That wasn't a bad movie, but it was a date movie. It's one of those "too blave" stories. But it's pretty and well done and it doesn't age poorly. Not like Requiem for a Dream. I don't get how people like that movie, it's just a hodgepodge of predictable tropes and techniques aimed at pleasing the 18-22 crowd through self-indulgence. But in a bad way. V is for Vendetta was the exact same movie, but for some reason V pulled it off amazingly where Requiem fell completely flat.

That's why I continue passing on Eternal Sunshine.

I'll put it on next time I have a fuckhole over.

Yes, mainly because its not in the vein of those movies in terms of seriousness.

Its more light hearted. Its a nice change of pace in Dicaprio's filmography.

Whee I have to go take a test at 5. Fun times.

I guess it's appropo, Requiem tried way too hard way too often to convince me how clever it was. But having seen the movies that it was pulling influence from I knew it wasn't clever at all, it was just stealing. And stealing poorly. Whereas V never tried to pretend in a real way that it was a clever movie. The first scene of that movie smacks you in the face with "get strapped in, this is gonna be a pretty dumb ride. But we know a lot of words that start with V so suck on that" -- which allowed for clever moments to arise unexpectedly. And when those moments did arise they were immediately predictable. Which is not actually an insult, but a high sort of compliment. That movie was nothing but one giant story cliche that they somehow managed to string together without seeming cliched.

I didn't think it was that much of a date movie. I enjoyed it. Reminded me in some ways of Vanilla Sky in how it misleads you and leaves you wondering what truly happened.

Catch Me If You Can is pretty good, but it doesn't even come close to being Dicaprio's best film, in my opinion.

Eternal Sunshine, I would suggest watching it by yourself. It's a good flick. If your "fuckhole" isn't too bright, she'll probably think it's stupid anyway.

I've never been able to make it all the way through Avatar. Tried three times, thought it was god awful. If you haven't watched Cool Hand Luke in the past couple years then you aren't a real man. Truth.

Never seen it. i tend to avoid movies before 1970s other than spaghetti westerns. They seem really hamfisted and overtly macho and remind me of this:

Sterling: A ruse? Hi, it's 1930s, can have our words, and clothes, and s**tty plane back?
Rip: Let's go, kid.
Sterling: Call you back, 1930s. And, hey, watch out for that Adolf Hitler. He's a bad egg.

Grosse Point Blank if you have not seen it yet?
I'm working through 2000s for now, I'll check it out once I'm in the 1990s

In Bruges. Seven Psychopaths.
Saw In Bruges when it came out. Liked it.

Downloaded Seven Psychopaths a few weeks ago, but still havent watched it. Will do it this week.
