Does it wrap up the whole deal pretty well? I'm happy that some of you guys have been saying it's lighter on action, and it sounds more of the spy stuff, like the first one, is prevalent. I still think the first one's my favorite, but I would be happy with something to top it as a final film for the series. Not too bad. If you've made it this far in the mission impossible saga there's no reason not to see this one.
Probably a tad on the long side but didn't quite drop into feeling boring which is good.
I believe so. How old is he now? I mean he's got to be getting up there towards 70.Is this the final movie? Cruise is done with the franchise?
I figured Atwell was going to replace him, but that doesn't seem to be the case.Cruise is 62. Considering the lukewarm reaction to the last one, and this one is even longer, slower, and more expensive, I think its out of his hands if he didn't want this to be the last one he starred in. Hell, Pegg has even aged out to tech support mentor.
All I have to say is Ferguson had better be alive, and her 'death' in the last one tricking The Entity / covering for her Dune shooting schedule. Atwell is actually older than Ferguson (and thus slightly less creepy an age gap than Cruise), but there was no buildup of Atwell for her to be a permanent replacement for Ferguson.

Knowing Hollywood, they'll probably reboot it with Chaz Bono as the main star and a few years because you can't leave any IP sitting on the shelf for long.
Part 1 (rewatched it last night) of 2:42 long. This new one is 2:49. So about 5 1/2 hours between the 2 movies. Not too bad. If you've made it this far in the mission impossible saga there's no reason not to see this one.

Yes, that is the female actress(Emmanuelle Béart) with Tom Cruise in that first picture.
I liked it for what it was, but didn't love it. Honestly, I enjoyed Dead Reckoning a little more. The Airplane sequence was decent, though. A lot of this movie just crawled on, while tossing random member berries at the audience. It was much slower than previous MI's, and not nearly enough action for a 2 hour, 49 minute movie.pretty good, not amazing. Not as good as Fallout unfortunately which still has the best scenes between the Paris halo drop, the bathroom fight, and everything in the helicopter final chase. Henry Cavill was also perfectly cast there, Gabriel is fine in this movie but never rises to that level of bad guy.
This one has quite a few clunky slow scenes, especially the underwater ones. I guess James Cameron is still the only one who can do underwater great. The movie is wildly too long, 2h49m and could have easily cut 20-30m out and tightened it up a bit.
The AI enemy still suffers the same problem from 7, its just a McGuffin which doesn't feel like it has any purpose or agency other than to move the story along. You could have replaced it with a Bond villain and probably would have been more fun. I wish we'd get really good AI enemies, even OG Terminator did it better with Skynet and its motivations.
If you are a fan of the series worth a watch in theaters, looks great in IMAX. Rewatch Mission Impossible 1 at the least, it has a LOT of callbacks to that movie. Way more than I expected. I rewatched all the movies again right before this (skipped 2) and you can feel the love for fans in this one.
