Mostly because both bullpens have got be running on fumes. I know the Royals started this trend a couple years back but you really can't sustain this sort of churn in a competitive series.

Yeah, this is where the 100% analytics guys are off point (Brian Kenny etc). The idea of just purely "bullpenning" games has somewhat been turned on its head after this series. Starters that go 5+ innings will always been an amazing commodity.
Even the Yanks "super bullpen" showed the cracks in the postseason.

Dare I watch the game tonight? My nerves are still shot from Game 5. And for the record, I do *not* think the balls are juiced. I just think, that is how insane certain batters are on both these teams.
