I am conflicted life long red sox fan....and they are winning right now despite having played disgustingly bad for -a lot- of the first half of the season.
now they have won 13 in a row...have gained significant ground on the Rays (gained 4 games this weekend) to only be 6 back of said rays are currently in the playoffs(with way too many games to play to worry about that atm)...all by playing, in the words of some radio personalities in boston...below average players.
all year i have hated how they have played. too many strike outs, not playing smart ball, now. after firing Cora and apparently firing almost all their hitting coaches.... "Drive Line" was the company they came from(at least one player hired his own hitting coach and did not use the team's hitting staff, which FIXED his hitting problems he was having)... and seemingly ignoring the "analytics " of the game (never bunt, never hit for the single, always swing for the fences, you know the stuff that is killing the fun aspect of the sport ) they are playing "small ball" bunting, etc etc.... and benching/trading/sending down the problematic players... they are playing...great.
now they are fun to watch...BUUUUUUT.... looks at the last several years of collapses.... i don't want to get my hopes up...
