I am very pleased with the White Sox split with the Yankees. For us to take 2 games off of that pitching staff feels like the team might actually be a real threat to make the playoffs. They have been so fun to watch this year, but there are some massive holes that have to be addressed.
  • Noah Schultz needs more time in the minor leagues and might not be a major league starter.
  • Seranthony Dominguez is straight trash.
  • Our catcher's have been an utter mess the whole season.
  • Tristan Peters and Andrew Benintendi are wonderful leaders for the team, but I don't think the talent is there for a team that wants to win 85+ games.
  • Colson Montgomery needs to work on his batting Avg and OBP. He has solidified his place in the middle of the lineup, but his boom or bust approach is hurting the team.
I don't mind them being quiet at the trade deadline. This team isn't going to win anything in the playoffs and we have a solid future. No need to mortgage it for a half of a season, when we know Reinsdorf isn't paying to lock anyone down.

Last thought... Will Venable should win Manager of the year. He has been amazing turning this AAA team into a playoff contender.

I'm just glad this circus is over and the Tigers actually got some decent prospects out of it. They weren't winning it all this year (and probably not even making the playoffs) with this shit bullpen that's blown more saves than gotten actual saves. He's not going to move the needle on their chances - his last start was indicative of that when he left in the 6th up 7-1 and they lost the fucking game.

Poetic justice will be if he fucks over the Dodgers when they need him the most to protect his money like he did last year to the Tigers.

Detroit could have gotten more for him if they traded him last year, right? Seems like not that many teams wanted a 3 month rental, or pony up enough to resign him, especially with the Dodgers likely still being the favorites without this trade. Dodgers and Skubal have to be thinking to get a deal done ASAP (6 days) after the WS less a new CBA limits payroll via a cap; I don't think anyone expects the near limitless payroll via deferred salary to be allowable anymore.
