I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of CBA Negotiators suddenly cried out in terror...

Now we don't have to hear, "Is this Dodgers run as good as the 90s Yankees."

Disappointing end, but deserved, LA never showed up.

Grats Brew, GL in the series.

Brewers left way too many guys on base.

Got away with it this time, but they're playing with fire if this goes to 6/7.

This thread has gone absolutely dead and that’s all the proof I need that the ratings for this are going to be ass.

The part I find funny is the insecure fans of the Brewers and Rays have to remind you that “if you don’t watch this, you don’t love baseball.”

shit, not even Dodgers, Yankees or Astros fans have claimed you need to watch a Series that you have no interest in either team.

Quietly rooting for the Brewers. I am obsessed with their pitching staff (starters & bullpen). No big names before this year, yet they have developed into one of the most dominant staffs baseball has ever seen. They have a 2.03 postseason ERA which puts them in the halls of legendary if they can finish this series out without any big hiccups.

Why would anyone care about the Rays? The state of Florida doesn't even know they have two MLB teams.

A) Do we even have any Tampa Bay people currently, much less TB baseball fans?

B) I don't think any of the (ex-/)Wisconsinites are baseball junkies. I go to way more Brewers games than Packers games, but that's just because its 5 miles vs 3+ hours of gameday traffic to Lambeau for me. Hell, I'm not sure I have _ever_ posted in a baseball thread before my astonishment at the Dodgers getting swept.

C) I don't think the general public has any reason to root for - or against - either team. Whoever wins, we get a first time winner. Obviously I'd prefer the Brewers win, given the last time they even appeared in a World Series was a decade and a half before the Rays were formed, but if the Rays are better than us, so be it.

My understanding is the ratings are bad, but not _quite_ as bad as 2023 (Arizona ain't a big market either) _yet_. Obviously Fox is hoping this goes to as many games as possible every year, but a quick series when dealing with these markets would be the worst case scenario for them.

P.S. For the Brewers Pitchers, remember than both Rasmussen and Peralta played for the Brewers! I'm not sure what the Brewers scouting / development people are doing differently (aside from Belichick-ian trading people we won't be able to afford one season too early to maximize trade values), but that's what people should be focusing on from this year while we're locked out next year.

I grew up in Tampa but the Rays didn't exist until I was in like 7th or 8th grade. So I was always a Braves fan first, Rays second.

Series is a complete waste of time

everyone talking about how it was going to be two teams with similar play styles and what a classic it was going to be only for the Brewers borderline sweeping the Rays

what a fucking joke

Amazing the camera was actually able to find any Ray's fans in their home stadium. Tampa has a team that competes every year and they are the third lowest in attendance. Only ahead of Miami and the Sacramento A's. It's pathetic. Banana Ball draws more fans than the Florida MLB teams.

The Brewers haven't made it to the World Series since 1982, so there's tremendous local demand. Even standing room tickets were going for over $2K in Milwaukee on Fri/Sat.

Hell, it is still cheaper to buy a ticket for Tuesday's game and a same day round trip flight from Milwaukee to Tampa than buy a ticket for game 6 in Milwaukee.
