Aspinall just officially turned down an Interim title defense against Ciryl Gane. UFC was told no chance.

He wants Jones or strip him and he said he'll fight Gane for the HW title.

I'd say that is a pretty fair stance. Jones and Connor both need to either retire or be "retired".

They can't fuck over other guy's career because of their own issues or their choice to hold out for what they want the money to be.

guess the rumor still is, ufc offered jones the $30m, he has not officially responded, and ufc are looking at aug-nov date.

at this point, it would be more like them to strip tom of the interim belt and make gane-volkov for it.

i also for forgot about Cain's championship reign, it lasted 896 days, which jones will pass in a couple of months. cain had a break of 600ish days between the jds and werdum fights. if they let jon have 600 days, would be Jul 9, 2026.

I'm very, very over Jones doing his thing. His win over Gane was over two years ago. Stipe was in november. it's been almost 8 months; if he isn't ready now he isn't going to be ready and we're in another Connor situation.

Either defend or relinquish.

He's had three fights since Feburary 2020. It's June 2025. C'mon.

That'd make sense why Jones last statement was "I told UFC my plans". Guessing he's remaining unresponsive for his 6 month period before he decides.

Putting 15m up in guaranteed pay over 3 fights with no win conditions for Ngannou would have made more sense than paying Jones the 30m for Aspinall. Offering Ngannou only 8m with win conditions added is an insult. I think if he was offered no conditions on the 8m they could have got Ngannou to re-sign to UFC. UFC always has to try to bargain with anyone not named Connor or Jones. One of Ngannou's win conditions being he has to beat Jon Jones was just plain stupid. No one can take that deal serious.

Jones fighting Aspinall for a fake belt isn't going to fix the division.
