Some takeaways from the press conference:

- UFC started talks on Ronda/Gina in 2024.

- UFC contacted Gina Carano first about the fight.

- UFC lowballed the fight and couldn't offer as much percentage (Under Paramount there is no PPV buys) to pay Ronda or Gina anything.

- UFC didn't pass on the fight, they simply couldn't afford it. Same story with Ngannou's contract negotiation.

- DW urged Ronda to get real money on her own. Has less power in the UFC, less ability to pay people. Beholden to shareholders.

You Fight Cheap strikes again.

And a WH update: Jon Jones was in negotiation for the White House and UFC lowballed him. It would have been Poatan vs Jones.

The fight fell through because Jones wouldn't accept less money than he was offered to fight Aspinall last year. Sucks it came down to money and Jones wouldn't take a pay cut but I get it. It'd be his final fight, it's a very big fight, and it's the White House. I guess the Aspinall money wasn't available anymore from the UFC's Saudi investors they had got for Aspinall-Jones earlier this year.

This has been a problem for several years-- but is a more public facing problem today since it involves their biggest draws.

Makes sense now why they approached Aspinall to see if he was willing to vacate the title. I'd guess the Aspinall money would be back on the table for Jones vs Poatan if Tom agreed to vacate.

They really did try to get Jones on the card, because approaching Aspinall to drop the belt after being fouled in both eyes is some serious gall.

Aspinall just sided with Jones on White House.

That was on nobody's bingo card.

Tom, a guy that was fucked around for 2 years by Jones, has officially got Jones back.

He said UFC needs to offer the same money-- why would the White House be a lowball.

Fighter pay is constantly in the media now, and with multiple top talent taking deals in boxing and other avenues it seems the legitimacy of these divisions will remain tarnished. No new talent wants to fight for nothing.

Look at the "talent" that's been signed to HW over the last several years.

We've peaked.

Sounds good but nobody wants to see Gane fight anyone except Tom.

Putting fights people don't want to see on the White House card ain't it.

I think Bisping is right. Gane and Pereira is a more interesting fight. Jones would just walk through them both with his wrestling and grappling. I'd rather see Jones vs. Pereira though.
