Gane is significantly larger, and faster than Pereira. Add in the fact that Gane's one real glaring weakness is grappling, which Perriera doesn't really dabble in is a very, very bad style match up.

I admire Pereira's fighting spirit, but fighting Gane at heavyweight seems like an extremely tall task - especially at that age and with the amount of weight he put on. I seriously doubt it gets better from here.

Just watched the match. Great card. I hate to see lewis get his ass beat like that. Maybe he should have retired after "My balls was hot"

But what I hate more is seeing faggots bitch about normal and common strikes. White belts learn to elbow the back of the head. I should pop in tapes of the original UFCs when fuckers were punching people in the dick then elbowing them in the back of the head when they doubled over.

periera moves up like he's just packing on pounds

he came into the ufc as a middleweight, he got an easy titleshot against izzy cuz he just beat strickland, for mw, then he did a few fights at lhw (he didn't even "go thru the roster, he had rematches w/ jiri and ank), and he thinks that he can eat his way to hw, he weighed more gane who we can all say is a "natural" hw

even jon, looked weird, he spent 3 years putting on weight and muscle and look at this

his booty sticking out and his belly is extended like he spent those years doing tech support calls. and while he easily dispatched gane, jon moved super slow, "ring rust?" or he just too fat and not used to his body.

he looked a lot better when he faced stipe

herb doesn't even make it clear wtf is the back of the head, he's doing all these crosses hand moves and shit

i understood "back of the head" clearly when mccarthy said just imagine a mohawk, that strip is what you don't touch

The modern interpretation of the rule taught by the commission is that it's to the spinal line area only. A very small area that an elbow or fist very easily covers and clearly makes contact with this region any time the back of the head is struck, however this has allowed refs for the last 15 years to just not call any shots to the back of the head since they can claim it's not "the real back of the head".

This allows hacks like Herb Dean to lazily enforce and never call it since there's a 1% chance that the strike was not directly centered to the spine line.

Just go back to 2000's era "headphones/headset" back of the head enforcement.

The referees are not skilled or care enough to enforce any rule, back of the head or otherwise, so go back to simplifying the definition to close the copout loophole Herb and other refs are using to avoid calling fouls on the back of the head. The old version Big John created when he wrote the rules solves this "gray area" that weasel refs can use to point to replays and say "durrrrrrrrrr see das not da back of da head!!" When it's quite clear the strike is affecting the spinal line region. But unless you go back to the Big John version (the headset rule, which meant absolutely no back of the head strike is legal) there will continue to be 0 enforcement since it becomes an argument rather than a matter of fact that the back of the head was struck.

I always felt the headphone behind the entire head explanation made sense when Big John wrote it. But somehow over two decades it became this tiny little region and it's not called as a foul anymore since then.

You were getting your ass kicked by the time he landed any elbows anywhere near the back of your head. So what exactly are you saying? You knew the illegal elbows were coming and that's why you lost?

if there's rules, fucking enforce them. it's a dumb rule, the UFC is full of dumb fucking rules. but if you're going to have them, enforce them or fuck them off, don't leave it open to interpretation by some hack ref.

The current "mohawk" rule definition used by UFC:

The Crown to Occipital Junction: Starting at the crown of the head, there is a strict vertical zone running down the back of the skull to the occipital junction (the nape of the neck), with roughly a 1-inch variance on either side of the centerline

Basically allows any ref to claim nothing happened (if that's their agenda).
