The plan was for Tom Aspinall to fight Ciryl Gane at UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden on November 14 During training camp, Aspinall was hit in his right eye while sparring and re-injured it. Multiple scans and medical opinions followed, with doctors refusing to clear him. “The eye started to act up. Now he can't train... he informed the UFC, chills for a month, goes in for a scan and the scan was very bad. The results were not good. Goes in for another scan, doctor refuses to clear him. Goes to get a second opinion, doctor says the right eye is a pretty big problem. They're now telling him he needs to wait and come back in January. If [it doesn't heal up by then], that could mean a fourth surgery.”
