Title: Monster: The Ed Gein Story

Genre: Drama, Crime

First aired: 2025-10-03

Creator: Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan

Cast: Charlie Hunnam, Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, Olivia Williams, Suzanna Son

Overview: In the frozen fields of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a friendly, mild-mannered recluse named Eddie Gein lived quietly on a decaying farm — hiding a house of horrors so gruesome it would redefine the American nightmare. Driven by isolation, psychosis, and an all-consuming obsession with his mother, Gein’s perverse crimes birthed a new kind of monster that would haunt Hollywood for decades.

There's a movie with Steve Railsback about Ed Gein that came out I think around 2000. It's pretty fucked up movie.

Well, I don't know if you're aware of this, but Ed Gein was a pretty fucked up dude.

Just a dude living his best life.
I just remember seeing it over at one of my best friends places back when we were in college one evening. I think we were just barbecuing and having a few beers and found it somewhere on his pirated cable.

When I said it was fucked up, I mean it from a standpoint of it's both serious and also hilarious. It's a pretty strange movie and we still joke about it to this day.

There's a handful of other pretty crazy scenes, but for being a low budget b movie, it's worth checking out and Steve Railsback does a pretty good job. Probably his greatest performance since Life Force, except he doesn't sound like he's from Wisconsin.

I did a report way back in the 80's for high school on Ed. (Being a horror movie wanna be fan, although I cannot remember the class I did the report on)

From what I remember, it was a pretty boring case (So to speak). If I recall, he died chilling in a Mental Facility?

I'll give this a watch, but I am sure it's all jazzed up in drama.

Growing up the first horror movies I was exposed to were Amityville Horror, The Exorcist and Omen. So for a while there my idea of a horror movie was demons and devils. Then I caught Pyshco on local TV and remember being really confused when Norman suddenly shows up in a dress and wig. Why the fuck is he dressed like a grandma? I didn't get it and thought the movie was retarded. I saw Psycho again in my teens, but still wasn't impressed and would've preferred to watch Evil Dead 2 again for the 20th time.

I never gave Pyscho much thought until I saw Silence of the Lambs and it was at that point I realized how creepy Psycho really was. Around the same time I learned who Ed Gein was and that a "vest with tits" was a real thing.

By the way Ed Gein didn't say this. Ed Kemper did.

Uh...two episodes down and not sure what to think about this one. Not what I was expecting.

So far:
  • The voice Hunnam uses is lol
  • Nazi sex fantasies
  • Gay butt
  • Hitchcock looks like the Penguin fucked a goblin
  • More Nazis
  • Nine preserved vulvas
  • Anthony Perkins agrees to stop fucking people in the ass
  • Boobies
I thought the Dahmer series was well done and convincing. This is not that, but I'll give it a couple more episodes and take it from there.

Why the fuck not lol.
