When you get to SA imagine driving from Phoenix to SA in a Uhaul truck. The president of the company I worked for in SA weas in Phoenixc at their office there during 9/11 and the only vehicle he could get back was a Uhaul. Just think, SA is not even quite half way across TX going east to west. There's a lot of TX west of SA, not a lot of people but a lot of TX.

Put ac in car on recirtculate going through El Paso. There's a stock feedlot right by the interstate where they fatten up cows before heaidng to butcher (and may be worse now with sfrewworm lockdown) you will smell it for miles. Or take a detour and go the long way via Carlsbad and then into TX in the middle of nowhere.

In 2015 I made the drive from San Diego to Houston, non-stop, with a friend. We swapped driving and sleeping. HALF of that trip was Texas. Its really effing big.

We're moving from Hawaii. An area with very low light pollution. It wouldn't be worth it to detour just to see the sky as we've seen it for the last 10 years.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

It's 1:29am local time, and we just finished unloading all of our suitcases into the hotel room in Fort Stockton. Tomorrow, we have a relatively short ride to our new apartment. Good deal. I'm exhausted.

Remember in town to drive the TX way. 35 years ago TxDOT had an ad campaign that it didn't matter how fast someone was going your job was to move into the slow lane and let them pass even if they are going way over the limit. You are not a cop. I miss those ads on TV and billboards.

Just kidding. Coming into SA from that side will be busy or super busy depending on where you are headed but you probably already knew that. Assuming you don't sleep all day. The closer you get to SA the scenery and "stuff" definetly picks up.

A bit of an update.

So here is the Air BNB that we rented. It was... tolerable.

We called Matson right at 8am this morning. They didn't have an answer for when it would be available, but minutes later we got a text saying it was ready to pick up so we hoped in that white SUV to pick my van up first, because it can easily hold 100% of our luggage with all 4 of us inside.

So my wife drove the white SUV to Enterprise to return it. I picked her up and drove over to Matson again just to get her vehicle.

She had a dead battery that they used a jumper on, and we ultimately left for our drive at around 4pm.

We ended the night at 12:30am in Phoenix Arizona. Very productive day. If we are able to do 9-hours tomorrow, that will leave is with only 4 to do the 3rd day before getting to our new apartment in Texas.

The view in southern California was very nice. Lots of mountains you drove up, them like 3 straight outta of driving down hill.

Here's at the bottom of that area. I didn't want to try filming higher up because I needed to be fully paying attention to the road to prevent disaster.

After the concert in SA this fall I'm heading out to the Phoenix area to meet some gaming buds. Never been far enough west for everything to brown out, can't wait. Going with a bud so should be a fun road trip.
