Look forward to reading impressions, thinking it will be my next purchase if it is moderately well received.

I was about to download the game and then I read an IGN preview that shit all over it. IGN is usually super nice regarding previews, most likely because they get paid off, so it's gotta be pretty bad.

IGN's review scored it a 5.5. I don't trust IGN much (especially considering some retard there gave Drakengard 3 a 4.8 just recently) but it's about the same everywhere else so far too. Worse still, they all say the same things: very short and completely on rails with only one ending, extremely easy to the point that you simply cannot fail the investigations, awful stealth/combat sections, tiny "open world" map, etc. The only difference of opinion seems to be whether or not the story is any good.

This was a game I was really looking forward to, but after the disappointment of Beyond: Two Souls last fall I decided to wait and see how it turned out. It's unfortunate, if the reviews are right, but the whole concept seemed extremely ambitious for that studio. Square Enix hasn't really done any promotion for the game either, so there were a lot of warning bells there too.

Downloading now, I'll let you know what I think when I play it after work

But I usually enjoy the weird game, this one reminds me of Ghost Trick for the DS (one of the few DS games I actually really loved and played all the way through).

Sitting in my car for the evening(lots of appointments today), I'm hoping the bad reviews are just a case of reviewers without an affinity for it. (since its really not a defined genre from the looks LA Noire is closest and that was almost completely unique)

New genres are a good thing, will be really disappointed if this flunks out.

Yeah, was hoping this was going to be good. I'm not encouraged by the reviews.

About 1-2 hrs in so far, it's very much investigation - almost entirely - not enjoying it too much personally, it's a change of pace, but to something I'm not really too keen on personally.

Reminds me alot of old "Myst" style games in fact, basically just searching everywhere for everything then some minor puzzling.

It's probably OK for a narrow type of person - unfortunately, I'm not one.

This actually looks really cool, definitely interested in hearing more reviews. I was iffy about LA Noire mainly because the main character sucked and because I got tired of driving around and doing shoot outs. If this game removes those aspects of it, could be fun.

I love point and click adventures, Fahrenheit/Heavy Rain, L.A. Noire, etc. and this game is not doing a thing for me.

The gameplay is like if you took L.A. Noire and removed the driving and guns, replaced them with 5 times as many dumb collectibles, then also removed any possibility of failure. I understand why the pre-order bonus was a cheater map for all that shit; the city isn't even that big and there's like 240 things to collect. The 'puzzles' are like being given a multiple choice quiz with 7 answers, 5 of which could technically be considered correct, and you're expected to pick the 3 'most correct' ones. I made a couple mistakes early on by overthinking things, before I realized that the solutions really are just braindead easy.

Can't judge the story yet but I'm not terribly optimistic based on the fact that the killer seems to be superhuman/supernatural.

I'm having an ...ok time. I LOVE the concept, but they couldve done so much with it. Collections and side stories are just average, the engine runs well enough but feels 'loose' in that my character hitches and gets stuck pretty easy.

I've encountered a few bugs already too, latest one I had to posses someone to get past a ground obstacle, that person then pathed incorrectly and got stuck in a wall, had to reload that one.

Ive been playing 7 hours slowly (so about 4 hours for an average gamer), and it's 90% collection, with the rest being really braindead investigations. With no way to fail. I could be playing the chinese version and still click my way through it.

Again though, I love the concept, and to steal a line from every sub-par MMO "It has potential"

Yeah, that's the problem. It was a cool concept, but it was just utterly wasted on a studio that has only made a string of awful games and Quantum Conundrum (which was only average at best).
